Its the 2ms model that has the lottery on panels,
#4
I have read somewhere that these are samsung panels only, so no lottery.

They seem to be nearly the same as the 226bw except the response time for 223bw is 5ms as opposed to 2ms with overdrive for the 226bw.

There was a hidden menu where it tells you what panel you have.I brought one a couple of months ago and the menu no longer showed what panel i had,it had been removed.I spend ages trying to get the screen calaborated but kept getting constant flicker on the screen.I was running it on onboard graphics card and normal vga input, however when my new pc arrived which had a good graphics card in 8800 gt and dvi and i connected it to that ,the picture is now fantastic.

'Bought one' people, BOUGHT! Brought...tsk tsk...

shame they are glossy black, they just attract the dust like magnets

magnets attract dust?

Good screen. I'm looking at the 226CW and I know with the 226, the BW you can end up with a variety of panels but the CW you get the samsung panel.

would this screen work ok as a tv also?

maybe addinga tv card
what would u need to connecta freeview box to it?

yes i think it is as its an old LCD (i dont think samsung made all their LCD panels then), unless i am mistaken this isnt a problem now as i think samsung make all their LCD panels (and apparently for Sony too)......i bought the samsung 226cw which apparently doesnt have this issue - bought from pcworld of all places for approx £199 before xmas (with 10% business account discount)
its great for static work, but like all LCDs its no good for motion

I have the 206BW from the play.com misprice last year. Superb monitor. But got another sammy for the office off ebuyer and have serious bleeding on it. Will check the model no. tomorrow, don't think it's this one - but it was a shocker compared with the 206BW
#19
when it says Image Contrast Ratio1000:1 / 3000:1 (dynamic)

Whats the difference, do you need DVI connection to get the full benefits?
Also, does anyone know if it has the tilt and slide like my 205 bw, bought this off amazon for £149.99, its ok but found out after its only 700:1 ratio.

I've got the pebble range, SM2232BW and use a usb tv dongle, works fine. It cant be used as a TV i.e plug in scart etc, you'll need the MW model if your looking for TV functions. This comes with DVI/VGA same as the pebble range

no the lottery is with samsung panels

Probably would pay the extra and go for te 24" OCUK monitor at the moment considering that has far better panel and there is only 60 quid in it.
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/152646/ocuk-value-l2442wd-va-24-widescreen/?p=1661122 also as you go up to 24" your getting 1080 capability
#25
wicked telly, but how do you get the sound to work on the dvi-d channel?

You don't. It does not have speakers [see specs].

It's a monitor NOT a telly.

He was stating that he read that the panels that are used on this monitor are only made by samsung (i.e high quality ones) and there isn't a "panel lottery" on this monitor.

The monitor you specified above isn't a far better panel, in fact its worse because it is a budget unbranded manufacturer and has no DVI input. It will have the same quality as the low budget 22" panels which can be got for around £130.
#28
Friend bought the 226BW panel from Overclockers and they have checked which panels they got , they never tell u but wedid recieve a SAMSUNG panel!!!

amazing screen with the 226BW from ocuk. I hear that the 226CW has betterreproduction gamut if ur into photos.

Oherwise opt for the 24" ocuk panel the next best compared to dell 2407 - 2408.
#29
Good price, but I've been wary of eBuyer since they sent me a refurbed, scratched digital camera last year, which was sold as brand new, then when I sent it back they sent me another which was faulty out of the box.

I'm after a new monitor for graphics work though so I could be tempted to dip my toes in the eBuyer waters again...
#30
hey there guys.... dont know too much about monitors, but i do know its needed for tv/movies/gaming.... would you reccomend this as an all rounder or would something like a Hanns G (HGHW191 19) do the same? appart from the size...

Its a samsung panel and it does have a DVI input but nevermind. VA panel is far better than the TFT in this.

Mine arrived yesterday, the pictures on the web don't do it justice, I was considering the 20 inch pebble but this model looks a lot less plasticy. I must admit that before it arrived I was a little concerned that it may be too big, but having set it up the size is perfect.
The picture is fantastic (although I at first thought I had two stuck pixels which went away after changing resolution), but as many have said it does need 5 minutes of setting up.
I bought it along with the Logitech Wireless desktop 1500 which matches the styling perfectly.
Also very impressed with Ebuyer service, ordered on Sunday with super saver free delivery. Arrived Tuesday .
