I only just bought the new LE23R88BDX model on Friday from dixons.co.uk for £382. I'm not sure if I wish I'd gone with with this one instead, but I wanted inbuilt Freeview, so I'll refrain from slashing my wrists just yet

Just ordered mine and added heat.

Does anyone know what size VESA bracket is needed to wall mount this TV?

Thanks.

Here's a white one too - same TV (very slight model number change, likely due only to the colour):

Ive got the 26" R74 (pretty similar just different plaing of the on button and has inbuilt freeview. Its a cracking tv though, looks superb (through VGA NOT component connection) with my 360.

ONLY down side is that the remote doesnt look as nice as the tv.

EDIT: Actually thinking about it you can get my one (26") with freeview for about £400 now probably or less, so dont think this is that grat a price. sorry!

looks like Samsung are discounting these models everywhere as the new models have just come out replacing them, Dixons/Currys have the brand new leXXr88bdx models which have upto 3 HDMI's. still a bargin though............:)

you are right to go for this model, Freeview built-in is the best option, plus you have the latest model not the one thats been around for 18 months..........

Is this any good for PC monitor usage?

I ordered one from dixons on friday as well! came to £362 with egg card 5% cashback :) The 3 hdmi ports and freeview are worth it.

This has just dumped a spanner in the works for me. Was all set on the 32" R87/88 but im now debating if 9" is worth £200

Good question - does anybody know if this is good for everyday use as a pc monitor?
#15
hi ihave this in white got it from richer sounds 299.99 and its fantastic on the 360 and also great as a pc monitor, its also a pretty decent tv as well, cant go wrong

but if you need the extra hdmi and freeview go for the latest model, myself its fine for the bedroom where im unlikely to need more than 1 hdmi
#16
We don't really need the freeview option as it's just for the bedroom and have sky there anyway - so just may go for this.

Thanks

And voted HOT

Wow, now I have to choose between this tv and the AOC 27 inch one from Intekx for £264.50 with free delivery this weekend!

Anyone have any views on which would be a better deal??

The AOC is a budget panel whereas the Samsung's are generally top drawer. These are the same models that Microsoft used in the xbox 360 kiosks at launch so there obviously good as Microsoft used them to show off the machine. Thats if your planning on using a 360 with this that is :p

Saying that tho the AOC does get good reviews.

Great T.V!! I bought this about 6 months ago for 400 :( Brilliant tv, the only problem is you need good scart leads for it, especially for freeview or sky, with a rubbish scart lead, the quality is poor!

Crap Resolution..

mm... normally only use 1280*1024 but most laptops have similar rez to this tv so i wouldn't call it crap!
Crap would be if it was a 640*480 or 800*600 like some old tv's.
#22
i have an older model samsung 23" running at 1280x720 (looking at it right now!) and its very nice :)

You forget to divide the resolution over the area ;-) Bigger the screen, worse the picture. Most new 22" displays are running 1680*1050 and 24" displays, 1920*1200 so a 23" at 1080*720(ish) isn't going to be anywhere near PC monitor standard.

Its certainly usable, just don't expect it to perform as well as a PC monitor (it'd make a good second monitor though because it will handle videos and games well)

Are you speaking from experience or jumping to conclusions?
I have a 32" Samsung attached to a PC and it is great.

So using a TV as a monitor is alright then. What is it like when typing a letter say in Word, and using a spreadsheet, or just browsing th internet, does it show text sharply?

Many thanks!
