Samsung 26" LCD TV with built in freeview - £363.90

£363.90 @ Testing
I've been after a 26" LCD for quite a while for the bedroom. This Samsung is a cracker and on offer at a great price delivered from 247Electrical. This had an rrp of £799 only 12months ago !

whys this so cheap?

New models out hence the price is dropping . I have this set , albeit the 73 series which has a blue flash as opposed to this silver version , in my bedroom & once the settings are tweaked it is superb . Out of the box it is in dynamic mode & looks awful , set it to cinema mode with adjustments in brightness , contrast , colour , sharpness & colour temp & it is excellent .

R73 & R74 is the exact same model apart from the colour band .

R87 & R88 have cosmetic differences regarding button layout but is the same set internally etc .

I ordered an R88 for my parents last week & I'd say it was a better set but not miles so .

Yep, took a look on Google - LOTS of complaints about this company

BE WARNED .....

I ordered one of these from 24/7 when the price was £385ish (Dammit, it was only a few weeks ago!!!)! It came in around 2 days no problem by CityLink!

So, I had no problem with them! Plus dont forget Quidco!
#11
Great deal - just ordered one
#12
i got mine from amazon for £400, very happy with it, the built in freeview is very good and gives good picture, also great when connected to PC (connection via VGA only)

one of teh major differences between the R74s and R87's/88's is the the R74 only has one HDMI input whereas the others have more I believe?
#13
Great price. I just bought one but from empiredirect because of a good finance option and 3 years guarantee for £19.99.
#14
Wow, I bought one of these a few months ago for about £580 (free 5 year warranty from John Lewis) - it really is a great TV
#15
This particular tv keeps coming down, I can't wait to see what I can get it for in August:giggle:

True but how long do you wait ? - I think any product has a bottom value & I reckon a samsung 26" LCD is always going to demand ovr £300 for the near future.

I could wait another 3 years and get a 26" LCD £199 new but what do I do in the meantime ?

I've watched this down from £500 and feel the £350 mark (with quidco) is about the right price as these will start dissappearing at this price point.

i bought one from 247 elec 12 months ago no probs with delivery

These really are a nice set. I recently got one from John Lewis after they price matched Empire Directs price of £399 and then threw in a 5 YEAR GUARANTEE!!!

Very valid point. August is my personal 'getting a new tv by' deadline

This looks a superb tv and a cracking deal might just bag me one of these..;-)

Hope you get a good deal Koopa - go for a Samsung and you won't go far wrong. Samsung have been market leaders in my eyes and many others are still playing catch up in design and PQ.

Dont forget 3% with if you go through Quidco to ;-)

Just ordered myself as seems like a good deal i couldnt help myself lol ....keep coming on this site even though ive spent more money then saved :/

Do you think 26" would be big enough for a living room....starting to think it might be to small now lol

I have a 28" CRT though and that size is ok for me ......do you think with the LCD i would get more screen size anyway then a 28" CRT?

much too small mate

26" is perfect bedroom size

for a living room the minimum you should go for is a 32" but i'd advise going for 37" if you are going LCD or 42" if you are going plasma!
#28
Had my eye on this tv for a while, I don't think that this can be beaten on a price performance basis. Ordered one yesterday from 247. Can't wait to see Halo 3 beta in HD next Wednesday!!

I think it would need to be a smallish living room - 32" is better for an average to large size room. A Big room could accomdate a 37" comfortably.

Don't fall into the mistake of thinking bigger is better !! - A mate who has to buy the biggest of everything went for a 37" LCD and can't understand why the PQ is so [email protected]....we">[email protected]....we'll he's sitting about 6ft away in his smallish lounge :w00t: ....might get away with it on HD but on SD no chance.

When I was researching my 32" Samsung purchase the rule of thumb was around 10ft viewing distance for a 32" panel

Any clever sods tell me what the main differences are to this one?:

No freeview in the one you have linked to.
#32
So I would be better going for the 27" if I use a cable digibox?
#33
Theres also no HDMI input on that one. It would be okay if you were just using it for xbox 360, i think it would be better to go for HDMI though.

I have a cable digibox with the 32" samsung r74 and 37" samsung r88 both about 6ft away connected by scart and the picture quality is superb. Took a bit of tweaking because out of box settings were horrible but looks great now

10ft away - easily 37".

If you get 32" you will wished you had got that extra 5" within a day or two.

I have tried that 26" in my bedroom as a replacement for a 15" CRT and it was spot on. Unfortunately it was only a loan set so had to go back.

I am only 4-5ft away in my bedroom.

Don't think I could persuade the mrs to let me get one after having just purchased a 37" Panasonic Plasma.

37" yes for Plasma but no for LCD ! - I think at 10ft you are going to see pixelation / smearing at 10ft & under on 37"

I ordered one of these on Tuesday morning from 24-7 before I even saw this posting.

They debited my bank and the TV is still showing as processing, I wish I hadn't shopped there, especially now that I have read their terrible feedback on pricerunner and numerous posts on google.

Anyone else ordered and worried? So much for estimated 2 day delivery, 2 days and I haven't even had a shipping confirmation.

I am worried that they are the cowboys people make them out to be.

Yup same thing has happened to me and still says processing :-(

Mickey Mouse Outfit....

E-mailed today to see what is happening, and received an apologetic e-mail to say they aren't in stock and that I would be able to get one after 14th May(stock due), followed by an e-mail ten minutes later saying they aren't getting any at all as the model is discontinued and offered the R73 with the blue flash at a later date.

A total joke, take your money then don't deliver, god knows how long I will have to wait for a refund, will keep you updated.

Don't touch 24-7 electrical with a barge pole.
