Is this TV worth £580 though? some people have said the picture is grainy and colour not accurate and the sound too quiet,

Apparantly the standard picture quality is poor unless you pay through the nose for the hdtv content from sky
#11
I have the predecessor to this and its great, admitedly you are mostly correct on the sound, but I have my sound going through a surround amp & speakers so doesn't matter.

untidy innit
#13
untidy? compared to tolerating inbuilt speakers with small speaker drivers
No, not if properly setup and very much worth it.
#14
I bought this TV a couple of weeks ago.

It looks great, you have to sit at least a couple of metres away from the screen though or it does look grainy. The sound quality is preety good as well.

It's quite difficult to get the contrast / brightness set up properly - from one seat it looks fine but from another seat it looks very bright.

I'm cosidering buying http://www.quidco.com/pixel-protector/ to get the most out of the TV not sure how well it will work though.

It's a good price for a good TV. Nice find

Hi, ive tried the codes stated on the deal, and they were working earlier on, but when I went back into the curry's site, the codes are no longer working. Just the 10% code is working... help!!
#16
The free delivery code doesn't appear to be working, but the 10% does.
#17

I have this TV and Sky HD and it handles both SD and HD beautifully. The built in digital tuner is very handy too. Like any larger LCD the picture looks bad if you're too close but from 1.5m+ back it looks great.
#21
Just ordered this using product no with CFP after it also 10% code and free delivery code, managed to get it for £583.20 plus 3% Quidco.
#22
used codes 218711cfp
tenemail
wk27af_freedel (in that order)

Total with delivery £583.20

with Quidco £565 (Cant be bad)

The point is that getting better inbuilt speakers means - no external speakers cruft
#24
Can someone else confirm this has now expired.

I am annoyed as I tried it last night and it worked had it in my basket at the 580 price.

However I wanted to wait and went to see the tv in currys today. Decided it was great came back to purchase it and none of the codes work anymore!

Guess its my fault for being hesitant.
#25
I think this is the problem you are having - it's out of stock for home delivery - and the codes don't apply to collect at store.
#26
now says the MSE218711 code has expired for me (and its in stock for home delivery when I added the TV)
#27
I'm glad it's not working - stops me from ordering one :)
#28
Yeah, I was really tempted to get one of these. I put all the codes in and could've got it at £580 which is a great deal. Just a shame i've already got a perfectly good Panasonic 28" CRT 100MHZ refresh rate TV which has a great picture too. I can't really justify ditching it just like that.
#29
Ordered mine using my codes as mentioned.

next day order was rejected by currys (no stock) i was gutted.

The same night i ordered again using the same codes , got it for the same price £583.
This time currys they say yes, Its being delivered on sunday.
So if your order is rejected dont give up, keep trying.

This is as good as the Freemans deal that I got 6 months ago (it was around the same price after using voucher code). I think this is the newer model. Bargain!
#31
You mean Freemans actually honoured the 30% off? They didnt for me, ended up paying full price.
#32
They honoured it for alot of people, including me.
#33
Just bought one tonight for the 583.50 + quidco savings so will be 565 hopefully.

Ive been waiting a while as it was out of stock for home delivery in my region for the past week. If you have has this issue to might be worth checking again as every tuesday their systems are updated with new stock.

Well I hope this tv is as good as it looks and I dont experience any dead / stuck pixels there can be nothing more annoying!

Can anybody answer the following - whats the best cable to use and method of connecting a laptop to the tv I have a dell 9400 i would like to link up.

also i have an xbox 360 - is there any advantage to connecting via the VGA port than using the component connection if so is it worth spending 15 pounds to purchase this cable?

Thanks
#34
Have a search through this site...very good for general LCD or Plasma problems, and a lot on connecting xbox 360's...

Has anyone that has ordered this tv had it delivered yet. I have ordered for delivery on Monday , but still waiting for third e-mail from them, Thanks

With me, I phoned up and they said "yes the code has gone through". I recieved the TV and an invoice for the full amount, I phoned to ask why the voucher hadnt been applied when they said it had - and they said "because its an electrical product". I wouldnt have minded, but they could have told me that when I ordered. Wrote four letters to the MD, and they said there was nothing they could do, even though they had accepted the code when I ordered, and I made it clear i didnt want to buy if it hadnt worked.

Im glad you got a good result with them - but my experience was that the left hand didnt have a clue what the right hand was doing, they had no idea.
#37
Had my invoice sent to my by E-mail. £583

Had a call from Currys on the saturday giving me a 4 hour time slot for delivery.

Had the set delivered Sunday. The set looks great.

Currys had an add in the weekend press which featured the 32" at a price of £799.99. So £583 plus the Quidco 2.5% makes the £568 price tag look very good
#38
I saw this exact same model in Costco yesterday but with the silver trim as opposed to blue and the price was either £629 or £649 (can't quite remember) but includes a 3 year warranty.
#39
Is the picture really as bad as some have made out?
banned#40
Looks ok. but not worth £580
