Great Price :)

Get £150 off when you buy a selected Samsung 5 Series TV. Discount applies at checkout. Offer valid from 21.10.09. Subject to availability.

Sounds like a legitimate discount.

Great price for this TV. There is a way of enabling the USB port to play movies as well but it involves going into the Service menu so do it at your own risk!

Cheers OP, just took a punt as the price is really good for a 1080p Samsung with 5 year warranty. No idea what it is actually like so any feedback would be appreciated.

Also, with regard to Quidco, its 8% so isn't that nearer £31?

Thanks jaystan

FREE Installation & Delivery on this TV

So someone comes out and sets it up?
I'm not worried about plugging it all in etc, but apparently getting the stand on is difficult so if someone else does it for you then even better!
#13
the series 5 aren't bad TVs, but the series 6 is better. I think the LG 32LF7700 is a better TV as it has freesatHD as well as freeview (non HD).
#14
Wow , hot from me
#15
Very tempting as it has 24p, but 32" is a bit too small. I wonder what contrast ratio 'High contrast' is.

At what point does the discounted price appear. I've just logged in to buy have to give my credit card details before the "revised" price is apparent, does this mean that potentially I have to comit to buy and could end up paying the top price?. Thx

Anyone know if like some Samsungs this is poor with 360 or PS3? I had video lag with the last one I used

This is for the 40" version but I'd imagine its similar for the 32" version
In normal usage, the LE40B550 lagged by about 47ms, which is a higher figure than most modern displays. As a result, playing games on the TV wasn't immediately satisfying, as the video display lagged behind button presses. Fortunately, the TV has a Game Mode option buried in its menus. Enabling this cuts the lag down to 32ms, which is still not wonderful, but is a welcome improvement nevertheless.

ordered! many thanks, been looking for something lyk this to replace tv in bedroom, thanks op!
#24
what does M&S warranty cover?

in home service?
timespan before replacing?
loan TV?

or is it the same toss that you get from all the dept stores like Fenwicks etc, they'll send it to a local repair shop and you'll have to do all the chasing to find out how long it'll take.

these free warranties arent the gold at the end of the rainbow they're seen as on here.
the only decent one I've seen is the Richer Sounds ones, they tell you exactly what you get
not just 'repairs up to the value of and if we cant repair it we'll replace it'
but if you've had it for a few years and there isnt a direct replacement you'll get a partial refund towards a new TV.
after waiting 4-6 weeks or more to find out whats going on with your TV.

With a Wii?

Wii doesn't do 1080p (or 720p) so this TV is overkill if you're only using it for Wii.

doesnt say if they'll collect it or return it or if you have to take it to a service centre.
doesnt say how long it'll take to repair either.
a full refund is better than what the likes of Fenwicks offer if they can't match a replacement.

so its basically the same service as most department stores offer.
if its your main or only TV, you could be without it for however long.
28 days? isnt that considered the max amount of time now?

bit too vague for me
