Good price for 37" with 5 year guarantee.

Very very tempted.

I spent weeks with reading reviews before buying one of these. Currently I'm using it as a primary display for my PC, and I've also got an Xbox360 connected onto it.
It has a really sharp screen, the blacks are good (not comparable to plasmas though), it's an excellent set in this price. Could be found cheaper, BUT 5 year warranty is a really sweet thing to have, and most companies charges over 100 quids for it.
I paid 500 pounds for mine @JLewis abous half year ago included 5 years warranty.
#4
Ordered. 5 year warranty seals the deal.

Can anyone say how long delivery has been taking on this from M&S ??
#6
5% quidco on this... or am i missing something?

Ordered Friday. Mines coming this Friday, though that's due to missing a call from their Del department on Sat afternoon. My dad also got this set after showing him the deal, he ordered after me but was able to answer his call back and his is coming Wednesday.

is this offer valid with any promo codes?

I couldn't find any anywhere on the usual site, just bit the bullet and hope no vouchers come out in the next week or so!

Thanks Dokko,
I have ordered today and "Quidco" has registered at £22.45
so that works out @ £426.55 with a 5 year warranty

What's the freeview picture like on this? Will mostly be using SD sources initially.
Had been planning on getting a Panasonic P37X10B eventually, but at this price it certainly is tempting.

My opinion is that it's up there with the best mid range sets, most Samsung SD processing is.

Expert reviewers either praise it or don't mention it (meaning its not bad or an issue to be discussed) when reviewing 32, 37 & 40" versions.

can anyone supply a quick guide on how to purchase this through quidco? ive already signed up for quidco, whats the next step...?

Log in to Quidco, search for and select M&S, then click the link.to take you to the M&S site. Then buy as normal.
You can check the Quidco site for tracking, it usually shows up after a day or two.

Thanks. Must admit to finding most SD freeview pictures on LCD/Plasma sets to be worse than on a CRT - most are usually full of digital artefacts. That's why I was looking at the Panny. If only I could get the Panny at this price though.

The majority will be like that if not all, just the way it is. My old Panasonic CRT was a £1200 best buy from 2000, it was something of beauty when it dealt with SD signals, the change over to LCD's was shocking, and why i waited until late 2008 until i took the plunge with a 7Series Samsung, it was the best i was going to get and even then still not as good as what i had just sold for a £100.

I'm used to it now though, and when i get to sample a HD channel through my V+ box it makes it all worth the while.

I'm hoping this new 5 series is as good as my 7 series for SD, it should be, it could possibly be better as the tech in my 756a is two years old now.

Purchased one, same price on many other sites such as Play but not with a 5 year guarantee. Many thanks to the OP. Heat and rep added.

Purchased on Monday and the marks website states that the tv will be delivered before 18th march, thought it might have been a bit sooner than that :(

Its full HD yes? Rather than just HD ready? The title almost put me off, I need a 37" for the bedroom but must be 1080p, guess this is the one for me then :)
#30
Hello, Whats the refresh rate of it? I can not find it anywhere? Is is 100Hz by any chance?

Someone did a mini review of this on AVForums:
http://www.avforums.com/forums/lcd-led-lcd-televisions/1036002-samsung-le37b550-my-thoughts.html

Has a couple of bad points but I think this is a great deal overall. Heat + Rep added.

that struck me as odd, M&S describe it as 'HD ready' but surely if it's 1080p then it 'full HD'

Ordered one of these last week after it was posted in a Sony tv deal. Now I'm just hoping I get one allocated before this thread puts it OOS!
#35
Bought a Sony from M&S a little over a year ago, delivery was around 2 weeks (stated at time of purchase), and quidco tracked as expected (around £40).

Would certainly be buying this if I didn't already have one!

£429.99 at Amazon, although not with 5 year warranty.

Will they wall mount it, or is that extra or not possible?

How is the quality in SD mode?
Are the menu's fairly straight forward to use?

I'm looking for a TV which is to be used in SD mode only using the freeview tuner for my grandparents and was wondering if this is the ideal one for them (they can't get to grips with their current external freeview tuner)

Had mine since Friday, took a week to deliver, would have been sooner only i missed their call.

Can safely say this is a cracking TV. Sound is poor though if you tweak it a bit you'll get a much better balance and weight, though any £20 2.1's via the headphone socket will bring a whole package to the table.

As a centre piece in a AV set-up the screen is sweet for gaming, DVD & BR, though i've not got the freeview set-up as i've no aerial in the bedroom as of yet. Here's what i think, it might help someone:

Gaming: 10/10 - superb rich colours with no input lag or ghosting, two extremely important points for myself as a gamer.

DVD 9/10 - will show up older DVDs but newer content is spot on .

Blu-Ray 10/10 - Vibrant 24fps display with smooth movement and pin sharp content. I could have spend all day looking at Will Smiths beard in I am Legend, though i started to creep myself out.

Sound 4/10 - Poor, though with some tweaking somewhere near average. Speakers are a must, even cheap PC speakers will do.

Styling 9/10 - Aesthetically one of the better sets out there, usual Samsung standard and styling.

Set-up and ease of use - 9/10 - good range of settings for the picture, turning off the start up tune is a must though.

Viewing angles 9/10 - As wide as you could get, only starts to go dark and lose colour at silly angles

Freeview - no connection.

SD - no connection.

Remote 7/10 - Nothing to write home about, glad they've got rid of the spinny thing in the middle and opted for sensible buttons (compared to my 7 series remote) Better grooved vol & chan buttons as well.

Connections - 8/10 - More inputs than you'd need at this level, cannot thing of anything else that it could do with. Not tried the 2.0 USB as of yet but hoping it could power my Ext. HDD whereas my 7 series couldn't.

One other note is that its quicker to start up than my 7 series as well, does it in about half the time.

Well hope that helped someone with their decision.

No, wallmounting costs a bomb due to insurance, get it wrong and the set drops off the wall and thats a lot of money to be refunded.

Wall mounting will cost extra from anywhere i'd imagine.

They offered me installation, but setting up a bit of new equipment is half the fun imo.
