V. Nice Price with good reviews but one comment here implies that the resolution and single HDMI input have put some people off.

Shame, as the reputable brand and screen size were pretty well what I am looking for. I was very tempted but will hold off for a while. Great spot though!

Bought this exact tv a few weeks ago, absolutely chuffing stunning, dont be put off by the 1 hdmi slot, you will miss out on a great tv and all for one connection( get an adapter if you need more than one hdmi). Think its one of the, if not the best purchase i have ever made

I'm afraid the one HDMI is an issue and will be the reason this TV is going so cheap as most new LCDs have 2 HDMI sockets.

Let's face it, the main selling point of these TVs is that they are HD ready. Now this wasn't an issue a year+ ago when there was no HD available out there but now people have SkyHD/XBox360/PS3 and soon a dedicated HD-DVD or Blu-Ray player. With all these needing the HDMI connection, only having one is extremely inconvenient to say the least.

Fortunately for those (like me) who are going to have this problem, a solution is a switch box like this one:

http://www.cableuniverse.co.uk/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=148_177&products_id=1506

Still not very convenient but better than having to swap leads all the time!

Oh, by the way, I have a similar 32" Samsung LCD and it truly is a thing of beauty as commented by everyone who comes round our house. Highly recommended and a good spot.

you can always connect the 360 by vga, skyhd by component and ps3 by hdmi and still have all in hd. okay, its better to have more hdmi ports but not the end of the world.

Fantastic, hopefully the wife wil let me have this one lol, cheers mate voted hot hot hot

I have my xbox 360

A Wireless Dlink HD Media Streamer

and Sky HD all in my 37wlt66

Without the connectors I'd be stuffed but to be honest that TV is a Great Price

In Future I'll be Streaming all HD Media through my PC Blue-Ray or HDDVD so as a 2nd TV I'm tempted.!.

So you still get HD even if not connecting via and HDMI port?

Just ordered one of these after seeing how gorgeous it was in my local Currys...
Fantastic deal - £759, then QuidCo on top of this... incredible value.

yeah, you can get 1080p on the 360 using the component or vga connection (although not all tv's accept a 1080p signal via component)

i got my 360 connected to a 37" samsung r74 via component and the picture is great even at 720p

Thanks

Where are people getting HDMI cables for their 360 from?

Everywhere reports rumours of such a cable, no where that I can find actually offers one for sale, and theirs no explanation anywhere how it would work without a HDMI port, other than with compnent adapter which kind of defeats the object.

In all seriousness, anybody contemplating buying this TV shouldn't be too bothered about only one HDMI, after all, are you really going to also buy an Xbox 360 AND and PS3 AND a Blu-Ray Player AND a HD-Player, along of course with your SKYHD box.

I can see it being a bit of a problem for SKYHD and PS3, or one of the other stand alone players, but with no benefit from having the 360 signal "converted" to HDMI socket, I'm sure a fair amount of people looking at this TV will be more than happy with their purchase :-)

Indeed the code does work on both the 32 inch and 26 inch models that I tried it on. Didn't work on the 50inch though :-( I think they have to be the 73R range for the code to work? As with all codes like this you have to use the item code found at the top of the Currys page and add the TVG bit to the end. The 26inch model comes to £436.05 delivered plus a possible 3% quidco as well.

I bought the 40 inch and the 32 inch sets a few months back. Had a little niggle with a nasty light patch on the 40 inch unit but other than that they're both marvellous! The Xbox 360 and upscaling DVD recorder are both hooked up and both look fantastic.

Either I am thick or your post makes no sense.

You seem to think that only a HDMI connection can carry a HD picture to a TV.

That is wrong.

Both component and VGA are hi def inputs.

There is no HDMI lead for the XBox 360. It doesn't exist. I connect mine by VGA to my HD plasma and get beautiful 720p.

I connect my Sky HD box by HDMI, but Sky HD also has a component output which is HD and would give 720p HD.

All this nonsesne about needing load of HDMI ports is just that - nonsense.

Well - for now.

Well, yes you must be thick ;-) My post was referring to previous one's in this same thread both stating that they used HDMI to hook up the 360 to a HDTV or were going to. I never said there was a lead, I was interested in where the other individuals had "found" theirs.

I don't seem to think anything about only HDMI being capable of carrying HD, my 360 is connected via VGA as well.

Most of my post was indicating your same conclusion - the need for Multiple HDMI ports is rubbish, for the vast majority of people and certainly ones thinking of buying this TV.

MS apparently did announce an HDMI lead by the way - some suppliers even started taking pre-orders for it - before MS appeared to do a U turn and scrapped the idea.

Lets read the thread fully next time eh, before the name calling :-D
