John Lewis is retailing it for 799, and there are other retailers selling for just under 700, but nothing at the moment beats the JL 5 yrs warranty.

I got it price matched yesterday with Robert Wythe in Glasgow

btw not even sure if this is how you post a price matching deal. but i thought i give it a try as there might be others like me watching for this model's price to go down.

How does this price matching work eg: within a certain distance from the store and are internet companys also included in the price match?

These were cheaper in Costco when I went down a few days ago. Im looking to buy the 52" 6series model which was abount £1310 (and that was including VAT). Costco also offer 5 year warranty, but what is really good about Costco is that they do a no quibbles 90day money back guarantee. If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, just take it back and they will give you a full refund, no questions asked.

The Price Match work as follows:

1- You find a cheaper price throughout UK (not online, but has to be a physical shop).
2- The item must be on display and in stock
3- You call a John Lewis store that you want to buy from and then tell them about the above cheaper price and the retailer.
4- John Lewis calls back in 1-3 days confirming that the above is true and u can buy the same item from them at the same cheaper price

Is it possible to know which Costco? and exactly when?

I contacted them a week ago and they were selling it for 749.99 (i.e. Costco)
btw when you say cheaper, you mean cheaper than 799? or 720?

Voted cold for 2 reasons:

1) This is actually a Robert Wythe deal!
2) For this sort of money, you can buy a better quality TV, e.g. Sony, Panasonic etc.

For the few new members who didn't know that John Lewis may price match a retail outlet and include a 5 year warranty on a TV. Some JL branches take up to 5 days to get back to you and some within 24 hours. If one branch refuses then try another. It worked for me.

Thanks for pointing out that this is a Robert Wythe deal.
as for the second one, kindly point me to the better quality Sony/Panasonic for that price and quality (especially the quality) as i would be very keen in saving or well spending my hard earned dosh.

Of all the websites, reviews, as well as physical inspections in store, i have found Sony to be the best but to be 150 pounds more expensive in terms of the similar specs. Panasonic quality is no where near Samsung. This is not only a personal review but also the same can be found true from unbaised review sites.

Don't always believe people who seemingly blindly follow the big brand names as this TV gets great reviews:
http://www.hdtvorg.co.uk/reviews/lcd/samsung_le40a686.htm

Sonys 2008 range has been pretty hit and miss imho and will need to improve the quality of their LCD's greatly this year (but I think they will be aimed at the premium price customers). Panasonic on the other hand have not really introduced too much new technology into their LCD's recently (certainly nothing to match Philips or Samsung for instance) and I can't help thinking if you fancy purchasing a large Panasonic Flat Screen you should go down their superb plasma route ...

totally agree with you crofter as i also looked at a Panasonic, in fact even bigger screen size and plasma i.e. the £770 deal at costco. but Samsung is far better in quality (sound not great though)
