five year warranty from Dixons?
#3
This is a great price with John Lewis's 5 year warranty, but it's bound to be voted cold just because it's a Samsung... wait for the "you should get a Panasonic", "you should get a plasma", "it's only dynamic contrast" brigade to start... As someone else said on a previous review - if you want to compare products go to an AV Forum, but if you want to find a good deal look here.

Yes, and it's another £319.00 for a 5 year warranty that's free from John Lewis.

Can you let us know what it's like when you get it? I'm thinking of getting this one as well...

The series 7 Samsung TVs are far superior in terms of sound and picture than any of the previous series and I would seriously suggest that if you buy one that's greater than 32" that you don't buy anything prior to series 6 as the picture quality is inferior.

Panasonic's are nice but I think you pay too high a premium for the name and if you connect one of the series 6 or 7 TVs up to a Blu-Ray player, you would struggle to see the difference. How do I know? A neighbour has a Panasonic and he thinks my Samsung picture is as good as his, for a much better price!

Only issue really is the sound quality isn't amazing but its good enough for most purposes.

im slightly worried about some of the other reviews ive read. im starting to wonder if this was a good idea?

i reckon you got a very good price amazon have increased their price think its now 979 best price i have is john whyte delivered 925 & only 3 year guarantee dixons or coop electrical is another reasonable price if in stock , john hyte do some good add on's in a package if interested ie yamaha sound bar to enhance sound quality most of these tv's can be enhanced with a good sound system.
i have viewed the set in john lewis & i was impressed although the pc connection is only a usb so not for streaming

john lewis charge an additional 49 for installation if needed i noted that if setting up yourself avforum site has
a recent poster with all the settings quoted. The advantage with JOHN LEWIS is they have good reputation 5 year guarantee thrown IN FOR FREE . I believe it covers any noticeable dead pixels, not that their should be any, but if they do arise you are covered on new technology i feel warranty is priceless
i hope to get one price matched from john lewis negotiations on going
here is some settings that i picked up on av forum no harm in trying if your techno minded

if this is such a bad deal, please can the people voting it down tell me where to get it cheaper with a five year warranty?

are you up & running yet i reckon this is still the best price avail in market at moment amazon have adjusted their price now back to £900, the only - point i see on this tv is the sound quality i propose to enhance with a yamaha sound bar 5-1 i bought one a couple of months back it is also on offer in the market with richer sounds a friend of mine has a samsung tv different model & states the sound is not the best

i am using this stand found the stands a bit pricey i needed a stand to take take the sound bar on the top shelf
http://www.jualfurnishings.co.uk/newproducts/jf006blackglasscantilevertvstand.htm
this does take a weieght of 40kg on tv upright pole & 35kg on top shelf found i have had to put a couple of pieces of wood 1/4inch thick under the front legs of stand as tv leans forward due to my wood flooring being not that level i think or could be weight of tv anyhow seems to have worked & tv now not on any slope forward, i would think some of the cheaper stands in the mkt place need to be really looked at before purchase re strength & build i see why alphason etc are pricey
