Not being very technical what does that actually mean???

Your not gonna find a 1080p for that price anyway, plus you would have to be a proper geeksville to see any difference between 1080i and 1080p.

The 720p/1080i/1080p is basically short hand for certin resolutions these TV's can do.

This TV can only do 1368x768 so its only 720p. 1920×1080 is 1080p.

Basically the more pixals, the clearer the image.

Take a look here for details: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1080p

Ehh, not strictly true.

The more pixels, the more defined the image will be.

I love this 'only 720p' phrase that's used by so many on here...you'd think there was a startling difference to the untrained human eye from the average viewing distance of 8-10 feet on a 40" panel.

Only a robot could differentiate.

I was trying to sum it up in basic terms. I know that its hard to tell the difference.

Don't assume you know more than everyone else ;-)

I can assure you I wasn't.

I feel it's misleading that people are all running around poo-pooing screens that can't display 1080p, when 720p is perfectly adequate for the vast majority of viewers, including those with Sky HD.

The phrase 'it's only 720p' is what I have a problem with.:whistling:

I get what you're saying, i agree. I did'nt mean it as " its only 720p so its rubbish" it was more of, "its only 720p not 1080p". Just informing the person who asked.

Although its not noticable, alot of people like to keep up with the best out there and show off bigger numbers. Im very happy with my 23" 720p tv. Sounds pants though... so its put through my stereo system.

Its not the BEST spec, but as you say its not what your are after. For £320, you got a great deal, espically for a sony.

Large drive and ok ram. Runs MCE too...

Yeah thanx for that bit of 'piece of mind'. I am a but dubious due to the specs, and have read some reviews about it being the budget Sony... but its got a gig of ram, largeish HDD, dual core and a 15.4 so it cant be that bad. Most laptops around the £400 only have Intel 950 gfx in them so cant complain as its not at all for games (maybe Feeding Frenzy coz its the only one she plays lol!!).

I love the sleek look of the Sonys and this one seems a bargain - i just HOPE that they will honour this code and ship it out to me by the 10th !

PS... has any1 else ordered anything from them before, or the TV in the original post above (sorry have been highjacking this thread a bit on laptops) ? Would like to know if anyone has had the code accepted yet. The terms say the order is not confirmed until its shipped.
