I have been itching to buy a 50-60 inch to replace my perfect condition 42", but cant seem to get it past the Mrs. I just cannot stop looking at the Kuros and the G10s... I sometimes imagine one of the kids pushing the TV over but I guess I am stuck to my 42", but the interesting is that I hardly ever sit to watch the TV am not sure why am so obsessed with the thing.

Haha me too!! Although I do watch quite a few movies, I can't justify getting a new TV just for something a little bit bigger!! :?

the currys one should be expired, i saw it in store!

ha ha i love all the comments about wanting a 50" if only our mrs were accomodating, lol slight carry on humour here.
no seriously a good deal but no 5 yr warranty like the john lewis panny deal, if you gonna spend that much money i would like to be assured with a good guarantee package, just incase.
#13

It is STILL active, .. use 5INTEGRATED and get £30 off
#14
Bought this TV on Boxing day from Currys.
Delivered on Monday and now mounted on my bedroom wall with a £15 wall mount.

You have 2 years warranty under EU law, and more under SOGA, but that is harder to argue.
#16
Bought this one from Currys a couple of days ago. Very good picture and ITS BIG!!!!!!!!!!!!!but not bulky and only as thick as our 42" lcd, voting hot

the sale of goods act is NOT an extended warranty.

electrical goods can and will breakdown but it doesnt mean that you can automatically claim it on the sale of goods act.

it takes a great deal of proving and claiming.
the onus is on you to prove the item wasnt fit for its purpose.

i bought the samsung 50" bad boy from Bennets a couple of months ago and the picture quality is fantastic (better than my perfectly good 42") although the sound is not that great. I currently have it hooked up to my stereo for quality sound but intend to get a sound bar.
Blu-ray and sky HD are just awsome.

A bit of advice for all the wimps out there just do what i done and order the beast and see what her face is like when it turns up, if she moans tell her to open her legs wide while you aim your size 10's to give a direct hit in her flaps or if she's normal she'll just say 'nice one darling'

i'm away to visit the wife in hospital......bye.

I got my 50" LG replaced from Dixons 6 months ago under the sale of goods act and that tv was just over 3 years old, all i did was phoned up trading standards and they told me what to say when i phoned dixons, so dixons told me i had to find my own tv engineer guy to prove it was faulty which i got a report off him and i sent the report off to dixons and waited a while then got word back from them saying they are sending a replacement, job done, i was told in the uk you are covered for 5 years by the uk law.

you can get a 5 year extended warranty from amazon for £99.99
type in allianz in amazon
its through sun alliance i think , also covers you for accidental damage from day one,
other 5 year warranties are available
they are upto £500
£500 to £1000
1000 to 1500 etc.....
and the good thing before people start saying richersounds extended warranties are cheaper
you dont have to buy the tv from them and its got full accidental damage from day 1
alot cheaper than currys, dixons, comet extended warranties

YOU ARE WRONG!!
its 6 years (5 years for scotland) (lol)
actually its upto 6 years you have a case can take them to court
normally after 3 years they could tell you no
and it would be upto you to take them to court at your cost
although you did well
i took a laptop back to tescos after 18 months as it failed
it actually failed after 15 months it sat in its box for the other 6 months
customer services refunded me £350 cheque and they never asked for the laptop back got a sony vaio laptop from littlewoods a month later for £268.50 so done really well
dont normally take out exteneded warranties but did with my philips 47" ambi light lcd from amazon at £124

Well i was still right about the 5 years as i am in scotland lol, i don't think dixons wanted to waste time and money with going to court so decided to give me a another telly, so i'm laughing at them as they tried to sell me a 3 year warranty for £159 or something like that :w00t: that's why now i tell them to stick it when they ask if i want a warranty :p

I bet you got this model - PS50B451B2WXXU.
Which isn't as good a spec, i.e. - Not full 1080p HD
screen resolution is 'only' 1365x768 not 1920x1080
And we all know how bad Very are for honouring their discount codes

No, it's not remotely possible. I've measured this set at 1750:1 calibrated - you could get more but would mess up the pic quality.

Note that contrast is still excellent, just the marketing numbers are 100.00% pure bull****. For example, the equivalent LG (PS3000) is about 850:1 or so.

yeah its accidental damage from day 1 so 5 years accidental
and the parts and labour one starts when the manufacture one expires (in most cases after 1 year) so 4+1 parts and labour

This extended Warranty is arranged, sold and administered by Allianz Insurance plc (we, us, our). The extended warranty premium is being collected on our behalf by Amazon.co.uk.
You will not receive advice or a recommendation from us. We only offer our own extended warranty products.
The purchase of this extended warranty is not a requirement of your Amazon purchase.
The extended warranty is only valid if purchased with a new (not second-hand) item from the Amazon website.

The above, taken from Amazon website........not sure that you can purchase this warranty for a TV bought elsewhere.:?
