PLEASE NOTE THAT OUR PHONE SYSTEM IS CURRENTLY UNDERGOING REPAIR AND WE THEREFORE RECOMMEND CONTACTING US VIA EMAIL. WE APOLOGISE FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE CAUSED.

That sounds helpful on the site. :o Bet their order line works though. lol

Isn't this the same tv on amazon, but from 3rd party Hughes Direct ?

You'd be wise to check out the delivery charges first as they're usually higher from 3rd parties.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000O14F60/ref=nosim/coffeeuk23245-21

Don't know if Quidco applies here

BE Direct £1012 delivered but without the £300+ 5 year warranty.
And I think their phones work.
Under £1100 at a few other places, but again without the 5 year warranty.

a lot of people on avforums bought hannsprees from them, no Idea how good the warranty is though. service is meant to be ok.

I just wanted to point out, that i have this TV and its awesome,

AND the PS50Q96HD bought from currys.co.uk, is the exact same TV. Curry's requested a different model number, so they don't have to pricematch. But they are the exact same TV.

The tv from Curry's is only £1044.99, and then combine that with a Curry's discount code for £100 off a £999 spend (AW10AUG) and the price drops to £944.
#7
Dont' forget this offer includes a 5 year warranty which is worth at least £300. Saying that, I've no idea who the warranty is with or if it's any good.
#8
calm down :x yes i have and iv'e bought said product -three weeks ago. i admit i was wary at first but i have spoken to them re warranty AND they delivered next day FOR FREE and the tv is Excellent- (getting HD soon cos footie started:-D )
the same product can be found on John lewis with 5 year warranty for £1399.99.
WHY THE COLD VOTES!!!:-(
give the little guys a chance.
you find me a better price!!!

BE don't include warranty -
how much is delivery and will it be next day?

also i would never buy an expensive product from currys again .nothing seems to last from there.

The warranty on this would be a concern for me, as there's no mention of who it is underwritten by, other than the company Teleland, whom I've never heard of until very recently. Excerpts below:

Buying a new TV is an investment for today and the future. We are currently the only supplier in the UK who offers competitive prices and a free 5 years warranty with every LCD and Plasma Television, ensuring your investment stays operational throughout its lifespan. Your 5 years warranty will cover you for parts and labour at no extra charge, giving you complete peace of mind.

What's Covered?
All our TVs come with at least 1 year manufacturer's warranty, while some particular models come with up to 2 or 3 years manufacturer's warranty. The remaining years are covered directly by Teleland in which we honour the manufacturer's warranty. The first few years that are covered by the manufacturer is an on-site warranty, meaning they will collect the TV and cover the carriage costs. The remaining years with Teleland are a return-to-base warranty, meaning you will need to cover the carriage costs by sending it back or arranging us to collect it. Although the manufacturer's warranty varies with each model, you will still be covered for a full 5 years warranty for both parts and labour. If your TV can't be repaired then don't worry, it will simply be replaced for a new one! Please refer to the table below for a breakdown of how your warranty is covered:

Manufacturer's Warranty Remaining Warranty with Teleland
1 Year 4 Years
2 Years 3 Years
3 Years 2 Years

What Do I Need To Do?
Once you receive your TV you will need to fill in 2 warranty cards and send them back. One is for the initial manufacturer's warranty which is to be sent back to them and the other is for the remaining 5 years warranty with Teleland which is to be sent back to us. Our 5 Years warranty card can be found here or you can simply register online by going to our Online Warranty Registration. Once you have filled in both warranty cards (Teleland and the relevant manufacturer), then your warranty will immediately be valid from the date of delivery.

They've only been trading for the past 10 months...

think really that should read:
"were incorporated 10 months ago but may have been trading longer" or similar.
General statement:
Unless law has changed recently, purchase an item over £100 via credit card and the credit card issuer is jointly responsible for any contractual obligation connected to that purchase = if the original retailer was unable to meet its obligations those obligations would be inherited by the credit card issuer. (Always check applicability prior to any specific purchase).

BE don't include warranty -

delivery included. delivery mechansim not stated.

fair point that BE price is excluding warranty, and that has a considerable impact on price. will update earlier post.

Some warranty if you have to send a huge lump back to them at your own expense.

What sort of company is this?

the same product can be found on John lewis with 5 year warranty for £1399.99.

Price Match Empire Direct at £1199 + £30 delivery = £1229

Buy with MBNA Lifestyle vouchers = 10% off so £1106 with 5 year warranty.

Only issue is, would you be able to enforce a default on the warranty through this method? Doubtful, I'd think.

cor ! what is this. I only wanted people to know that i found what i thought was a good deal. the company is in london near me so taking back is not a problem and thats if it actually goes wrong -which im hoping it wont-
talk about shoot a gal down:-(

Just looked on empire direct and cant find that deal on there. theres a different model for £999.99?

the set weighs 45kg and is too big to fit in a car, (plasmas should never be sat horizontally) I'd say you need 2 men and a van to return it. I own one I know hat I'm talking about.
#18
being a man you would assume that.:-D
My car is quite big enough and obviously i dont spend my time worrying about if and when the worst should happen.
I am quite happy living in my ideal world of watching footie and assuming my tv will last at least until i can afford a bigger one!:p

your car is not big enough, that's a fact!
#20
Measured it - i could probably fit two or even three-not that i will need to.
thanks for your concern though.;-)
#21
Lying down or upright?:)
#22
 upright!
anyone would think it was the size of an elephant!! -the tv that is!

Also can i remind you that i didn't buy it because it just might breakdown and i just might have to use the warranty.:)
You lot are soooooo negative.

We're not just about good deals here... it's also a reputable retailer that makes the deal. When you posted this, I checked out as much as i could about the merfchant, and throught it looked ok. Well, except for the phone number not working, that's a bit suspicious to me.

Personally, if I was spending this amount of money, I'd buy from one of the big names... depending on the deal.

You listed the TV with the warranty as part of the deal, you cannot blame people for questioning the validity of the warranty or the supplying company, I certainly wouldn't buy from Teleland.
#26
Mummy, its nothing personal.
Its just that you can get similar deals elsewhere with a little effort, which would give more peace of mind.
I worry about buying a £100 item from an unknown supplier, never mind a £1000 item.
Will this new company even be here in 5years?? Probably not.
Is the warranty transferable?Probably not... which defeats its purpose for most because its likely you will want to change in a couple of years. Look how quick TV's have dropped in price. You will be able to buy a 50" Samsung for £500 in a couple of years, like you can a 40" now ;)

I paid £950 for my 50" Samsung with a 3year warranty, for a slightly different spec.. Truebright instead of Ultra Truebright, which many have problems with. 10 watt speakers instead of 15, which I dont use anyway, and 2 x HDMI instead of 3, and you can buy an HDMI switcher for peanuts now anyway.

I wouldnt vote it cold..like some have. I would just buy elsewhere with my £1126
#27
It's ok for people to doubt the supplier but i find that the smaller companies are a whole lot easier to deal with and you also get better treatment because they value your custom more. They rely more on word of mouth business.
All im doing is letting people know of a company that i used who seem genuine.
If for some reason they do disappear i will just get the extended warranty through samsung for between £200-300 or equivalent.I still have the manufacturers 1 year warranty. I will still have got a good enough deal.
I have a 50" plasma ,it looks good and it works.
I feel that the coldness of voting is quite harsh.
It is still a very good price compared to other companies regardless of the 5 year warranty.:-(
#28
Just because some small companies have a nice touch, it doesnt mean that they all will. You should also remember that some give big problems. So there is also more of a risk with a small company.
As Whit said, you can get it for £944 from Currys. TWO HUNDRED LESS. Much better deal IMO. 20% extra for a warranty..no thanx.
[mod]#29
Not only that but at least you know if there is a problem then Currys will still be here in six months time.
#30
also in regards to the warranty, a lot of people have found it cheaper just to get private insurance on the TV... I've just added mine as a named item on our house insurance, and the premium only went up £2 a month...
#31
whit: I strongly doubt your household insurance would cover a tv that malfunctioned due to a technical fault.

Currys have the [COLOR=Black]SAMSUNG PS50C7HDX 50" High Definition Digital Plasma Widescreen TV for £897. Is there a major difference between the two? Thanks.

IPS50Q96HD bought from currys.co.uk, is the exact same TV.

The tv from Curry's is only £1044.99, and then combine that with a Curry's discount code for £100 off a £999 spend (AW10AUG) and the price drops to £944.

Now only £927 using codes AW100TV and AW10AUG including free delivery!
#35
Joss, yes I bought it from Empire Direct. They had a 10% off deal going on. And I paid £20 for the 3year warranty, so it was £950 all in. Dont think you can get the discount now tho :(

Csiman, dont know the difference between the 7 and 97. But the 97/96 is the new range, so I wouldnt want to go for the old 1 personally. The 97/96 range has great reviews, but the 7 range possibly not.

Also remember that its a C7, which means its an older version '7' not'97' and its a C not P. meaning slightly less features.

Thanks but having read all about this TV (Q96HD/Q97HD) on avforums it states the biggest faults are that internal freeview judders on fast moving pictures (samsung are investigating cause) and their is a reflective moire problem on bright colours. Apparently the C7 and the Q96HDX/Q97HDX do not have this problem.
#37
I didn’t know there was any difference with the TV having an X on the end of it? The C96 does not have the reflective problem J And I don’t use freeview so I couldn’t actually comment to be honest. It looks great on Sky. Though I do sometimes notice it struggling slightly when watching footy if the ball is moving fast. But that’s plasma for you.

Pay by Credit Card. That way, if the receipt says 5 year warranty, you're covered for 5 years with your Credit Card company, if the company goes tits -up.

I very much doubt that, can you provide any evidence of that statement? a link would help.
