They're finally starting to make the uhd versions of cheap, thick tvs I see
Still for this price it's difficult to complain
Thick tv? This is a smart tv

saw this today but apparently is not real HDR
Does that matter? Not sure about the tech detail.

You can see a difference between HD and 4k at this size. I don't understand why people assert that you can't. I mean, jus the mathematics of having a higher pixel density is enough evidence to show that's wrong.

From experience there is definitely finer detail and edges on hard objects and the UI are extremely crisp at 4k. It's very good for gaming where often the text and UI elements can be small - that extra sharpness helps with legibility a deal. When you compare it to HD you realise things are softer as the ppi is lower.

That said, you won't probably be bothered by the difference until you spend some time at 4k but once you do you'll see there is a difference, albeit not one as pronounced as going from HD to SD and it's probably not going to spoil your experience. It's just incorrect to assert that there's no noticeable difference.

God dammit! I just got this delivered yesterday from JL; thank god for their price match service.

Hopefully they get back to me ASAP!

Also, it's quite a nice TV in my opinion. Turns on pretty quick and feels pretty nippy when comparing it to my old TV - although that was 10 years old must I add!

Still, it's pretty nice if you ask me, although the sound is a bit poor compared to my old TV. Must be me being used to having front facing speakers rather than from the bottom!

I don't think they'll price match as Argos only offer 1 year warranty.

That a rgbw panel where every forth subpixel is white which from what I've read can cause loss of definition. Think the Samsung is standard rgb

4k is pretty pointless on a TV this small, you'll likely never see the benefit.

I thought JL ignore other companies warranties when it comes to price matching.

You would need your own Power Station to power that TV. ;)

Exactly...although 49-50" is about the smallest you'd want to go for a 4K panel.

Very very good deal, considering the 9 series is a grand more

Does this run Android?
if so can you install Kodi directly on it?

If your nose touches the screen, I'm sure you can see it. Otherwise pretty pointless.

I have a 55" 4k TV and it's pretty much no different at all to 1080p. I'd be the first to admit it's pretty much a waste of money getting 4k at 55 inches or below, I've got one.

If it's pointless, why do they make 4k tvs ?

Hughes have a 4k tv on display and the picture looks stunning.

Great price. My old Samsung (48 inch) has a stunning pic so am guessing this will be on par and half the price of what I paid. Amazing. Have some heat.

Hughes have a 4k tv on display and the picture looks stunning.

Because people will buy them. In real terms, you stand considerably closer to the TV in the shop than you ever would at home. I bought my 4k TV as the picture in the shop looked amazing, even stood right next to it. Was surprised to get it home and find that the 1080p looked just as good. I'm seeing details in 1080p which I never knew existed or thought were even possible at that resolution. My old 1080p was only 46" and clearly not big enough to see the difference over 720p.

From a normal sofa distance, 1080p and 4k look about the same on my 55 inch, on a 50 inch there really isn't going to be any difference. If you are replacing an old small 1080p TV, this will no doubt look better - but so would a new 1080p panel.

yes. it has an 8 bit panel.

And you really need 10-bit to get the full benefit of HDR.

Incidentally, proper HDR (10-bit) is considerably more worthwhile than 4k at this size.
