£40.84 delivered for an Iomega 500GB external hard drive @ Comet

yep that iomega is the size of a brick which need a mains power supply - samsung is the size of an iphone and usb powered so totaly portable - well deserves hot status i think
#4
True....but does come with an embarrassing picture of Michael Jackson on it tho,
#5
very tempted...looks great-hot.
banned#6
yep but i read some where there was only 20,000 of these produced worldwide and MJ Memorabilia is going to be worth a few quid in 10 /20 years so its also a long term investment - maybe that a streching things but possibile - ha ha

Different type of hard drive. The one you have linked is a 3.5" external desktop drive. The original poster has listed a 2.5" external laptop type hard drive.

As for the deal, good price but wont be buying because of the michael jackson branding.

Just bought the 250GB one from Asda a few weeks back but am sorely tempted to buy one of these, remove the MJ case and replace it with a shell from DealExtreme or similar...
#9
'This device comes with the short USB cable and a "jacket". Of course this drive will loose its look as soon as you put it on but, on the other hand, it protects from scratches and so on'.

So that's it - if nervous about MJ then keep the jacket (and trousers) on.

Good price - but difficult to come to terms with....

is the software pre-installed ? If so can it be removed allowing just drag n drop ?
#13
Any details about specifications? Im guessing 5400rpm 8mb cache in one of these external drives. Might get one, open it up and put it in my ps3.

software is on the drive but its an option and you don't have to use it

I was tempted.....now i have ordered it.....needed a drive for backing up date.

MJ fan too so bonus with movie and case.

Thanks - have some heat and rep.
#17
good deal:thumbsup:
#18
Good deal, I think the other colour ones are £60, so good but not amazing price. Friend got a red for for £62 a while ago now, they aren't coming down in price much but still good given its 500gb of portable storage.

I'd order but I'm not keen on the case.
#19
Good deal.

Great entertainer and would have been the show to end all shows!!
#20
Hmm, yeas for me this deal hot for the hardware, but the jacko branding puts me right off, don't think a gold drive with jackson on it would be "descreet".
#21
this hard drive is a must buy for any MJ fan!:-D
#22
Good deal that... great size too.

Have just bought one to pair up with my macbook for my trips and to whack some better quality copies of my DVD's on for holidays and long journeys

I think it's pretty safe to say MJ memorabilia peaked when he died!

What will happen in 20 years that will make him more popular and famous than he is now? Other than perhaps a re-release of his entire album collection (like The Beatles)... Also, a USB2.0 HDD will almost certainly be useless then, it will just be a chunk of useless technology with a label on it. Safer investing in other memorabilia I think!

just had a quick look at bigger capacity 2.5 portable and Amazon have the cheapest 1TB - 1TB Freeagent @ £119.99 - = 12p per gig http://www.amazon.co.uk/Seagate-FreeAgent-Portable-Hard-Drive/dp/B002QVED22/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1271250777&sr=8-1

There was a video game in production at the time of his death that had a soundtrack. This may see a standalone release in the future.

I'd also imagine there are many more years of compilation albums to follow with the inclusion of one or two new/unreleased tracks that have yet to be made public.

...However, you are probably right in that we have seen the highest peak in the resurgence of interest for the immediate future.

Don't rule out seeing a new release one (five, ten, etc) year(s) on from the date of his death either.

Prices are driven down by larger capacities, at the moment 750GB and 1TB 2.5" drives aren't widely stocked but by September they probably will be.

I dare say that if you check HUKD every day between now and September you will definitely find a better deal.
