will you still be getting the 5 year warranty with it?

As the electro centre only give you 1 years warranty for that cheaper price?

That's like comparing a skoda with a ferrari, you pay more for quality.
#12
@deanos
that's pretty cool, but the cheapest I could find the Samsung, without the warranty was £2,089.

Yes, all TV's purchased from John Lewis come with a 5 year warranty.

Does anyone know if there is a back-lighting issue with this top of the range model ie grey patches on the screen when used in a dark room?
Thank you

Would be a dead cert purchase but the high input lag for gaming is a let down for me personally
#18
I own this tv and paid over 2k.Amazing piece of kit and wouldnt use any other make.Colours and contrast are stunning, maybe nlt everyones cup of tea but you cant beat samsung screens. Also excellent for gaming ive had no issues with lag?Just wish id waited a few months.
#19
Very hot indeed. Heat added. Can any on confirm whether this is wall mountable?
#20
Is this suitable for xbox gaming?
#21
If only I had the money!
#22
Ive got the 46" (also with the Samsung tab which i have been trying to flog) .TV is mind blowing
#23
wow nice margin on the Joh Lewis price. im sure theres still profit in the reduced price big old mark up on these tv's.
#24
Just for a little info we have actually purchased from electro centre themselves and the service was brilliant. Bought a fridge freezer from their shop itself in Birmingham. No warranty but if JL won't price match I'd vouch for them...
#25
WTF
people can't afford things like this.
look at this post for proof

despite the massive retail carnage everytime Apple bring something new out, no one in the UK has money!
#26
But as they are now being 'undersold' as they put it why haven't they just reduced the price?
#27
Hot.

Going by your picture it seems to be this one? http://www.sharpdirect.co.uk/60-80-big-screen-tvs/lc60le741e-60-inch-led-backlight-slimline-hd-ready-1080p-3d-ready-lcd-tv/invt/lc60le741e/ - which is £2299....

You need an affinity account to get the £999 price. I've just checked and confirmed the price using my GFs affinity account (gets it as NHS employee). If you are intested in buying the set google should help you find a way of getting an affinity account.

It's 12%, Not sure why most think it's 12.5. In fairness I was told 12.5 in training, but it definitely is 12! :)

These price matches will all be dealt with on a case by case basis if they don't change the central price, so it could depend on who you are dealing with. If someone came in and asked me I'd do it for them but it'd be painful! That really is close to 100% of the margin if not more.

Just to add...

That Sharp TV was £999 at John Lewis' & Richer Sounds last week with 5 year warranty.

The would have price matched Currys at £979 too.

It has been on sale before for under £800.

At the moment, nearly all the sites have it at approx £1300.

Sharp were offering the 3D version of the set on their Affinity site for £999 too.

It is the 3D (LC60LE741) one we are talking about.

I believe it was the LC60LE636, non 3D set which was on offer at Currys. Oddly that is also £999 on the Sharp Direct site now, not sure why anyone would buy that over the 741 for the same price :/. I dont believe the LC60LE741 has been as low as £999 anywhere other then the Sharp Direct site. So its a decent price.

I think they are online only, could be wrong though

I wouldn't use paypal for making large purchases like this. I always bypass paypal where possible due to the reduction of consumer rights using them. Paypal are a truly horrific company to deal with and have no regard for UK consumer law.

The PayPal Buyer Protection Policy states that the customer may file a buyer complaint within 45 days if they did not receive an item or if the item they purchased was significantly not as described. If the buyer used a credit card, they might get a refund via chargeback from their credit-card company. However, in the UK, where such a purchaser is entitled to specific statutory protections (that the credit card company is a second party to the purchase and is therefore equally liable in law if the other party defaults or goes into liquidation) under Section 75 Consumer Credit Act 1979, the purchaser loses this legal protection if the card payment is processed via PayPal.[61]
