Price gone up to 500+

First deal I've put on but been looking for one of these for a while and if you don't mind waiting as they are currently out of stock (like most places) its the cheapest the 1TB has probably ever been at 383. Usually at least 400! The way NVME is being bought there's a good chance prices will keep going up too

How it compares:
960 Evo - sequential Read/Write speeds up to 3,200 MB/s and 1,800 MB/s
850 Evo(sata ssd) - sequential read (540MB/s) and write (520MB/s) speeds.

who is this aimed at w10 loads fast on a normal ssd
#4
Anyone who wants faster performance than a standard sata SSD. The speed difference is massive so its good for people who want the best performance possible

Almost no difference to me between 850 pro and 950 pro day to day in Windows. Not sure about games.

You see some difference in games when it comes to huge games with lots of textures etc and loading times on maps. Its also good for workstation use

No consumer needs this drive, regular sata SSDs are fast enough, you won't generally notice any difference outside benchmarks or specific workloads - that doesn't stop many people from wanting them though! :)

I've felt a massive difference between my workstation with a pair of Intel 335s and my laptop with an NVMe Samsung PM951. Not in file copying but in 'snappiness'. Which makes sense as it's no longer going CPU -> PCI-E -> SATA -> drive, it's just CPU -> PCI-E -> drive, with all the extra capabilities that removing a weird old system for HDDs from 2003 allows.

It won't be CPU bound either, the workstation massively outperforms the laptop.

I've been watching these for a while (waiting for the 256Gb one) and they've been out of stock for ages with no estimated arrival time. Interestingly, they're also unavailable from other suppliers like Scan so I guess there's just a shortage all round?? Good prices tho.

There is a continuing shortage of flash memory plus other factors around production of 3D NAND by some of the biggest fabs. This will not only make some high-end/enthusiast SSD's like the one in this deal even more scarce but also more expensive, as retailers who are stockpiling will start scalping next year. There is talk of price hikes across the board from SD cards to HD market in a domino effect.

Anyone who has the cash and bags these at the lowest prices now will be laughing next year!

In day to day basic needs is pure overkill and hideously expensive. A standard SSD with 550mb/s is fast enough for any STANDARD user. Cold from me.
