If you're looking for a Blu-ray player that also plays a host of other file formats via USB, this could be the ticket. After a little Googling it appears to play mkvs, DIVX so good for all you downloaders out there. And at least three of the six discs look watchable.

Disney Pixar's UP, Toy Story, Mamma Mia!, Bruno, Sweeney Todd and 300.

good find op looks like a brilliant deal

Seems like a very, very good deal. Tempted to cancel the Ebuyer order and get this instead.

Edit... Damn, Ebuyer just sent me a confirmation message an hour ago saying my orders been despatched.

id check more thoroughly about the MKV thing if thats a selling point, most blu ray players wont play files bigger than 2-4gb big, ok for TV shows but most decent 720p blu rips come in between 4-7.5gb, 1080p @ 8-24gb

Is the 5500 the newer model? I've compared both models and there exactly the same. Think i'll be getting this wonder if it's same in store.

Avaliable may 10th

There is not much what I can tell between this and the older ones like the 1600 and onwards.

A good £50-£70 worth of Blu-rays, not bad. Better than buying some no name brand then buying the same Blu-rays later.
#9
there' some info on the new BD-C5300 I think on the Play website.
#10
p.s sorry I think this is the BD-C5500, as it has the same description plus wifi access via the optional Samsung Dongal...
#11
The item title lists it as a BD-C5300, but in the description it says

"Wireless access to the infinite possibilities of next generation entertainment is as easy as plugging the Wireless LAN Adaptor** into the back of the BD-C5500. [email protected] and Allshare content can be accessed without wires, so you don't need position you player in the reach of an ethernet wire to enjoy the additional multimedia features on your Samsung Blu-ray player.

Wonder will we get a BD-C5300 or a BD-C5500. There isn't many difference as far as I can tell anyway.
#12
is this quite an old model? I can't find many online suppliers who sell it? going to try and sell my Sony Blu Ray player to get this instead.
#13
Does this have the new Samsung Apps access? The Samsung C6500 is saying that it comes with BBC iPlayer and access to Samsung Apps.

I was reading on an article that all new 2010 blu-ray players and TVs from Samsung will have access to it.

It does look like the C5500, but with the 5300 moniker, is it crippled in any way or is it just aesthetic?
#14
If it's the C5500 then it's only just come out, I was tracking it a couple of weeks back when it was available for pre-order on Play.com, the specification link on play is below:

great price
#16
just called customer services, it will be the BD-C5300
#17
Per the play.com link to the BD C5500 there is a marketplace price for £122.99 from Hughes Direct.
It is £149.99 on their website.
So is the play one a refurb OR a really good deal?
#18
I've just compared the C5300 with the c5500 on pixmania

Only difference i can see is the feature DLNA Compatible on the C5500 whatever that means. Allshare is on the C5500.

Both Very similiar specs.

This model not on the samsung site.

On pixmania the C5300 is £135 and the C5500 Is £129.90.

Think i'll call in my blockbuster see if i can pre order it there. seems a cracking deal

BLOCKBUSTER NOT ACCEPTING CARD PAYMENT!!!!!!!!

Will try again later

Where would i buy the Lan Wireless adaptor from? So i can go on bbc iplayer?
#26
Hot price. The wireless LAN adapter you can get on amazon I think, but it is about £50 which in my opinion is way too expensive. I dont think a standard usb wifi stick will do the job either
#27
Has anybody found out the limit on the file size of the MKV's? I have tried Googling it but with no success!
#28
I've found a 16mb PDF of the user manual on the German Samsung site if you need to check the full specs. Don't panic, it's in English.

certain wireless n usb adaters based on Ralink chipset (RT2870+ RT2820) will work as alternatives to the samsung lan stick

I was willing to take a punt on this Blu-Ray player as there doesn't seem to be alot of information on this exact version but blockbuster don't appear to be accepting card payments at the moment :(
#31
I'm somewhat tempted but I was really tempted when I half saw the image and presumed all six films were going to be Pixar.

When that happens count me in for ten machines :p

So no DLNA on this model. Shame

Any chance of this deal with the BD-6500?
#35
The blurb says you need a Samsung dongle. Did Samsung really create a bespoke WiFi dongle or just badge engineer someone elses?

Definately voted hot though - I'm gonna get one at this price.

Can any point me at info about streaming video. For example, what do I need to do to stream to another telly elsewhere in the house?

Looks like a great deal.

This will be my first Blue-Ray player.

Heat added! ;)
#37
Reckon this is worth waiting for. This be my first blu ray player. Or will a current one be ok is this alot better on features?
#38
Just found another site more expensive but worth reading about the player. Sounds a good blu ray player.

Also looks like the wireless lan plugs in at the front of the player ?
