Stupid cut and paste! Cheers - amended.

Has got very good reviews on Trusted Reviews.
#4
Also good review (9/10) on AVforums.
#5
can't see the price reduction, the site has the price as 127

These have a good Plex client

I wonder if these are returned items. This blu-ray player has had a high number of returns because it hasn't had BBC iplayer for a few months since launch despite reviews saying it had it. Iplayer finally became available this week but the damage has already been done.

Either way, definitely hot at that price

Yes but bear in mind that blu-ray players have cinavia protection so some plex'ed movies won't work

Urgh these. We have one attached to the TV downstairs and it tries to be a good device but it has a few things that let it down. The Youtube app tries to use leanback but it has a tendency to crash when a phone is giving it videos to watch. Both netflix and amazon video (lovefilm) have a tendency to crash, netflix is a bit better about it. Amazon video doesn't use the front display for much whereas netflix does. Iplayer, 4od and itv player work pretty nicely. I haven't tested streaming to the device because it seems to be samsung only, however I have tested plex which is pretty awful on this device, it requires things like manually entering an IP address of the server.

Anyway, I prefer the interface for a chromecast, it just makes more sense than clicking through films one at a time with a remote control.

Definately a second hand ps3 or better still connect a refurb Apple TV box to ur tv
#13
These are good. However the HDD ones r better

Plex on Samsung is excellent, putting in the manual ip is simple and pretty normal, or you can sign into Plex on it and it'll do it itself. So don't get the hate above. This Is a great price for a very flexible bit of kit. 4K upgrade best left for the TV though.

I have both and I use the blu-ray player more. The ps3 is faster but the h6500 is a lot more flexible.
- It has all the same media apps plus a lot more like spotify etc.
- Runs silent and uses a lot less electricity
- You can connect a fat32 or ntsc usb drive and it will play most file formats including mkv (ps3 only does fat32 dices and plays just mp4 and mp3).
- You can do wifi screen sharing from your phone.
- It has a pretty decent web browser (Opera browser). Hook up a Logitech k400 and you're set.
- Sharper picture quality (in my opinion) plus 4K upscaling to future proof.
- etc... :-)

Not disagreeing in principal, but the key point for most people is that if you already own a PS3, you don't want another box under your TV. Just buy a media remote and away you go!

Not on offer in Hartlepool had loads of them as well.

Thanks for the replies all. Not got a PS3 at the moment.....and not a gamer, just wanted a way of getting Netflix / Amazon onto the TV easily

Can anybody confirm if these are on sale in their local Tescos, please?

Or which store this was found in?

I've been waiting for this Blu-Ray player to be reduced again in Tesco. I have a Samsung TV so wanted to keep the Blu-Ray player the same.

Thanks for sharing!!

Which store op ?
#23
I'm guessing Crawley
#24
Can anyone else confirm this in their local store? I'd be very interested if it's likely to be in most stores.

Has anyone besides the OP (who has failed to respond to requests to reveal which specific store) managed to get one of these at £69.95?
Plenty of stock at FULL PRICE at Harbour Parade, Southampton so don't waste your time there like me.

None at this price at the big Tesco in Purley. Was still retailing at £139.

You could get the H5500 for £69.95.

Been and checked my two nearest Tesco's. Both had loads in stock. but all at full price.

Op, well done for a useless deal - grrrrr

The OP does have a life off of HUKD!

I thought I'd included the store info. These were in Tesco at Hookwood near Gatwick. I went back and bought 3 this morning as I have a large split level house so want to smart up TVs and internet access wirelessly as running cables everywhere isn't a goer, and there were two left, plus whatever else they may have elsewhere in the store.

I was wrong about the price - they were £69.50 so basically half price. The SEL was yellow and was marked as clearance. A bit strange as I believe these only came out in March or April.

The beauty of these is not only that you get a bluray player (and 3D at that), but also a wifi connection elsewhere in the house without having to run cables, get catch up TV, mirroring with your phone and of course a very good internet browser where you do not currently have a PC. These will enable me to have all of this in 3 new rooms throughout the house!

Not useless for me - very useful actually. Grrrrrr

And there are many other benefits, including the superb upscaling of DVDs and the ability to install more apps and plex. £69 is a bargain.

Tell you what, post the receipt or a pic of the SEL. Might help to alleviate the doubt that no one else so far in the UK has found this 'deal'

That's what the reviews on the first few links I posted said. Haven't tried it yet for myself but that's always been one of the issues with bluray players - loading times!

Also being able to link them up into a network is pretty handy.

I have this player, payed full whack.. It's worth it

I certainly won't be breaking into a sweat racing to my local Tesco, over what is yet another local, or local only to a handful of stores. Another wild goose chase. Tesco are playing with us. They probably have a room of people coming up with ideas as to which store a single item can be reduced so we go there like drones trying to find it. A total waste of time and money. For me if the deal isn't worth putting on the company's website then it isn't a deal. Other company's advertise the fact on their website if a deal is instore or not so why not Tesco. I am not disbelieving the post but tomorrow I could claim that I purchased whatever for penny from Tesco and the post will get massive heat and the deal cannot be disproven.

The rules of hot deals should be changed in that all deals need to be verified or withdrawn.

Rest my case. I been after the LG BP645. It's been reduced at Currys for a while now at £99.95. Now if I post this as being £50 in my local Currys store tomorrow will it get heat added and will I be sending lots of people out to catch some wild geese.

Unfortunately true. I can only hope the 384 people who gave heat to this deal have their voting rights rescinded. We definitely need a new section...HotLocalDeals

ps Still awaiting proof of purchase, I think might be a long time coming

Shame it's not national and more people have the deal but will give my 3 stores in Hull a miss until such time as Samsung or LG bring out their next model and will get an ex demo from Richer Sounds. I have bought one of their open box blurays before and it was fine. Don't think I would buy an ex demo tv though but bluray is ok. Fantastic Sony BP-S3100 recently for £49.95 going in in Hull at RS. Now that is a hot local deal.
