Spotted this on play and it seemed like a really good deal as this is down from £350...#
Obviously the price on these will come down now, but this is one of the sheapest I found
anyway the specs are below
Not only does Blu-ray deliver exceptional video and audio it has been re-designed to compliment Samsung's range of flat panel TV's in LCD and Plasma with gloss black styling coupled with blue backlighting and silver trim
Video output is at 24 frames per second or 60 frames per second to mirror the actual video recording perfectly
This will allow you to enjoy the video content as it was originally recorded , if at 24 frames per second and deliver a true movie experience
HDMI version 1.3 is employed for faster processing , deeper colour resolution and improved overall quality
HDMI connectivity carries HDMI CEC technology for ease of use during operation
Ethernet port is included for over the air upgrades although this can also be performed via a separate recorded disc , if required (disc not provided)
Product dimensions: H79mm W430mm D327mm - Weight 4.2kg

Are these stand alone players any better than what the PS3 delivers? And any idea if this is region free?
#3
The PS3 is a better blu-ray player than this as it is upgradable.

that old chestnut.

ps3 is upgradeable to some point (noone knwos how much and is already 1.1 profile ao allows
Pic in pic commentaries. Audio options are poor/limited.

samsung has better audio options, but is basic profile (no pip) and has slower processor etc than ps3 so has relatively sluggish response in menus

A few questions if I may:

Does this have 5.1 analogue out?
What audio formats does it decode (it might be faster to list the ones it doesn't decode to be fair)?
And can it send an audio bitstream via HDMI?
#7
Buy quickly before the prices go up now that the other format is fatally wounded.

Listen, the PS3 is a good option as for only £50 more you have a media centre. Not only do you have Blu-Ray but you upscale ordinary DVDs, you can stream your music, video and photographs (with slideshow) from your computer, which makes the PS3 brilliant! You can rip your cd collection to the built in hard drive, surf the internet, watch YOUTUBE etc

Oh yes, I forgot.... you can play games on it too.
