Still cheaper than most places are selling it, not to mention the added value your getting.

Anyone know if this profile 2, or even 1.1 and any hacks available?

Are they going to do the firmware on this to fix the bugs on it like the 1600 :)

Quick google search seems to suggest these are a little prone to dying on you. Shame because the price is great.

I have a samsung 1600 and since they done the firmware on mine it's been great, it stilldon't play the twilight one right but the are doing that, they sorted out the lions gate files aswell so it play the menus aswell.

So it is ok now, but I don't know about this model and the firmware on it and how upto date it is and how the are doing things with it :)

Does anyone know anything about the new blu ray players with internet access? I was in House of Fraser in the electrical department and a member of staff showed me a Samsung that could access You Tube. Does anyone know if all makes (e.g. Sony, Panasonic etc) can do this and also what other services can be accessed?

Do you mean using The VIERA CAST function. This allows you to access content from sites such as YouTube, and Google’s Picasa and check on information such as weather and shares.-

My samsung blu-ray player (BD-1250R) does that, I don't know about other brands but I assume they will have a version of it. When I first bought it, it didn't have it, but since updating the firmware the youtube functionality was included, it's pretty useful and has it's own interface rather than linking to the youtube website. There was another firmware update recently I haven't yet downloaded so hopefully it's an ongoing thing with more things being added.

My player connects via an ethernet cable, although you can buy a wireless adapter for a wireless network, however it has to be a specific one which I assume won't be cheap.

Apparently, although I haven't used it, the internet connection is used for all sorts of blu-ray related goodies and extra features not included on the discs.
