Good price, but got to say it's cheap (and reduced from that) for a reason...

Had nothing but problems with the one we bought, look at their software downloads page you will see they are constantly fixing bugs - last update was on Monday 7th March 2011 (previous update I just downloaded the other day which luckily fixed a bug on a Stargate Atalantis DVD was dated Feb 2011!!)

http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/detail/supportPrdDetail.do?menu=SP00&prd_ia_cd=601&prd_mdl_cd=BD-P1580/EDC&prd_mdl_name=BD-P1580&srchword=BD-P1580

If you can live with slow load times and some DVD menus just not responding then go ahead - but you get what you pay for!

I've got this player, and its an absolute bargain for £44.
Load times of this player probably are a bit slower than newer models out there, but you're not gonna get a newer player for this price

Thanks. I just googled it and apparently, you can't multi region hack this player..

Here's a comment from a reviewer @ amazon..

If you are however looking for a MULTI REGION dvd/blu ray player this one WILL NOT work, there are lots of codes out there to try and make this one multi region for dvd. Trust me NONE of them work. If your going to import Blu Ray films make sure they are Region A,B & C and then they will work fine.

Any ideas is this is in stock in any Birmingham stores? Got some vouchers for over a £20 spend so could get this even cheaper, cheers for the heads up op ;)
#18
Could do with one of these for my dad. Will have to look in Carlisle store tomorrow. Cheers op.

Very good price if you can get one, i have the exact same player, up scales DVDs, plays Divx from USB stick. Heat added8)

I've just looked about making it multi region. Wen it says open close disc tray I found it hard to catch the display at right moment so I missed out that part of the instructons and wen I turned the machine on I noticed that no disc came up on start up so I done it from startup insted and it worked on my c5500. So if you want to try that way it might just work ... Hope it helps.

Hey guys I managed to get the C6900 from Tesco in Denton today. Technically they didn't have one left, but they sold me the display model with an extra 10% off.

Here's the WHICH? review, which by the way, rates it as a Best Buy.

The Samsung BD-P1580 XEU has lots of exciting extras and is reasonably easy to use. However, it lacks BD-Live functionality and an HDMI cable. We were keen to see how this Samsung Blu-Ray player would perform in our rigorous tests.

Some Blu-ray players can be slow to boot up and start playing discs, but the Samsung is quite quick.

Films on high-definition Blu-ray discs look superb and those on normal DVDs look excellent, too. Sound quality is also very good.

If you stop watching a film and switch the player to standby, the player will remember where you stopped, so you can pick up where you left off later on. This 'resume' feature works with DVDs and Blu-ray discs including those with the BD-live feature.

It has a good range of features, including a USB port. These enable you to transfer music, films and photos from an MP3 player, camcorder or camera to the player, so you can listen to or watch them on your TV. Jpeg, MP3 and DivX file formats are all supported.

It supports BD-Live, which allows you to access additional film content (games, trailers, quizzes) on compatible discs and the internet via an Ethernet cable.

The player is fairly easy to use. The remote control is well laid-out although the buttons are quite thin and lack tactile feedback. The front panel controls are good - touch sensitive with audible feedback and illuminated labelling. However the instructions could be better presented as the text is quite small and the screen shots poorly contrasted.

Power consumption is good - the player uses 14.5 Watts when on and 0.4 Watts in standby.

Pros: Great all-round picture quality, USB socket, low power use, resume feature

Cons: Instructions could be better, no HDMI cable

My imagination is in higher resolution than 1080p and doesn't require firmware updates.

I was in Tesco Hemel yesterday (large store) looking for a blu-ray player. Not any to be seen, only DVD players. Has anyone tried the Watford store?

These are seeming to be exceptionally store-specific, which is a shame. We need a list like we had with the Xbox 360 threads.
