There is an Amazon deal for the same price for the BD-P1600, so I thought I'd post this deal for the BD-P1650. I don't think there is much difference specification wise, but it might be a slightly newer player?

It also means that rather than waiting for Amazon to deliver, you can click and collect one from your nearest Comet store today.

"Movies come to life with Blu-Ray thanks to Full High Definition 1080p Picture Quality and next generation HD sound. The BD-P1650 combines superb movie playback with great connectivity thanks to BD Live capability, Wireless Connectivity (Wifi Dongle required) and USB host play. Blu-Ray is the perfect way to make the most of your HD TV. "

Is this BluRay-Live enabled? And is there a multi-region (DVD or BluRay) hack?

Yes, it is Blu-Ray live enabled (it has ethernet on the back to hook it up). I'm not sure about a multi-region hack, sorry.

We bought the 1580 which works great with our Samsung TV. Is the 1650 much of an upgrade?

Edit: Identical spec to the 1600 (which I think is the same as the 1580) on Samsung site, so I guess not.

The only difference I could find between the 1650 and 1600 is the 1650 is 9mm less in height!!

The 1600 and 1650 can play .mkv files, whereas the 1580 can't (that's the only player that Samsung didn't enable the feature with via a firmware upgrade).

I've got a 1600 myself (paid £89 with one Blu Ray from The Hut Outlet) and it's a fantastic player - and being able to plug a HDD in and play movies that way makes it a great buy

Two recent reviews on there complaining it doesn't play all discs! Hmmm....

That is a slightly different model, and I did mention that the BD-P1600 was the same price at Amazon in my original post.

It says in the spec on the Comet site that this player doesn't upscale normal DVD's or play back divx files - is that true? If so, is that also the case with the P1600? Really looking to buy a blu-ray player now, but want something that will upscale my old DVD's as well as play all my divx and xvid films.

It does upscale. The information on the Comet website is wrong. DVDs will be upscaled.
