Now this is the cheapest I've seen this...
Welcome to the future of High Definition video. The Samsung BD-P1000 is at the absolute cutting edge of technology and one of the very first commercially available Blu-ray High Definition DVD players. By using a special blue laser, the distance between disc and pointer is smaller, meaning more pits, and thus more information can be fitted onto a disc. Thanks to Blu-ray technology, an amazing 54 GB of information can be fitted on a single disc - making it an ideal format for holding a feature length high-definition movie.

With such high capacity available, it comes as no surprise to find that the BD-P1000 will output at the highest quality video possible - 1080p. Linked to a suitable TV, this gives a stunning level of definition that makes even conventional High Definition (720p/1080i) look a little lack lustre.

In addition to the HD Ready HDMI interface, you'll also find component and S-Video as alternative video outputs and optical, co-axial and 5.1 RCA audio outputs. Yet another trick up the Samsung BDP1000's sleeve is the 10-in-2 multi memory card interface. This allows movie clips, music and photos to be played through the player via a wide variety of media including SD, Compact Flash and Memory Stick cards.

Although feature packed and at the height of technology, the BDP1000 remains remarkably easy to use. The graphic interface is intuitive and friendly to use, whilst the unique pop-up menu gives extra source information in an easy to digest format.

I would suggest that peeps read the review of this player in What Hi Fi sound and vision dec06 before taking the plunge on this player.

It does seem a good price though,£400 less than RRP.

I'd steer clear of the bluray format, after reading various articles like the DVD review magazine & the DVD Town's test's of Samsung's bluray player & Toshiba's HD-DVD players, I've decided HD-DVD is definately the way to go.

Thanks to HUKD I should have my Xbox360 HD DVD add-on player soon, but will definitely get a Toshiba stand alone HD DVD player for the main room, anyone seen any Toshiba HD DVD bargains lately? :)

You backed the wrong horse my friend!

But yeah, I feel like Marty Mcfly right now.

£599.95 for a blu-ray player? I'll tell you guys a secret that I'm not suppose to tell you because it could interrupt the space/time continuum. In 2012 you will be able to get a Blu-Ray player for less than £40 & an external one for your computer for less than £20! Amazing right?
