Impressive reviews on this player - Links on comment three.
Ignore the previous price on empire's web site thats way over the top, nevertheless this is a cracking player and a steal at this price. Average retail seems to be around £190 ( £199 PCWorld/Currys £249!!!!) I doubt you will find it cheaper than £150. 2% Quidco also.

Or alternately Amazon sell for £ a price match with PCWorld + 10% of the difference.

I've got one of these and it's great just remember to order a hdmi cable too (lots of deals for those on hduk) or you'll be sad just like me on my birthday. :(
Not entering the world of blu-ray til a player ticks the following boxes:
Profile 2.0 / Upgradable
SACD/DVDA support
Silent operation
Multi-region DVD
Under £250.00
There are always those who lag behind.......voted hot
Not bad, bear in mind that for £10 or so more you can get it from Amazon with 2 free BluRay titles:

I jumped on DVD immediately, it was incredibly difficult to convince friends and family that it would be the format to replace their beloved VHS. I don't want to lag behind with Blu-ray but it's a complete botch job!

Besides, my current standard def player is a beast and looks fantastic on a 100 inch screen so I can happily live without til they get their act together.

Don't get me wrong, I think this is a pretty good deal. But it's also something I would regret buying just a few months down the line.
It is a good deal (and I have voted it hot), But is it just me or is it taking a long time to get multi-region BR/DVD machines out ? Not to mention play back of hd divx/xvid ?

I'm sure we had dvd player that were de-regionable faster than we're getting BR players?
At the beginning of the year I read previews of machines from Philips and Daewoo that were going to be similar to their dvd plays (and, ok, Daewoo didn't set the dvd world on fire, but the Philips machines were great, I've got one here, region free, divx etc and firmware upgrades), and here were are almost Christmas !!! and Nothing !!

Even though I submitted this deal I have to agree thats an attractive option for an extra tenner!
