Seems a good price but it appears that there's only six available in the country. There weren't many more of them when they first started selling the model. A typical RS deal.

Obviously it's a decent deal if you get one of the remaining six.

None even remotely close, I'd probably spend as much in pertrol driving there and back

This deal was posted a month or so back when the deal went out to VIP customers

The heat generated by the last post suggests most of the remaining players were picked off then! Great little player though....

Freezing like virtually all Richer Sounds 'deals' posted here.

You'd need a lot of free time and cheap petrol to get this.

I've voted hot because some might get it, but to be honest I've never liked Richer Sounds. Every time they advertise a deal you find your local branch doesn't have it or they've "run out" even though you go early on the day it was advertised. My local branch usually has about 20% of the stock they advertise actually available.

I just feel they're "bait and switch" merchants - lure you in with a good offer then try and sell you something else.

I managed to pick one of these up when it was posted previously. Most of these deals are for ex display stock, and my local store didn't have the box. On the + side I was offered RS 5 year parts and labour guarantee for £9.95 which offset the risk associated with buying from display, so I figured £69 (with the warranty) was still a good deal. 6 weeks on and I am really pleased with it, suffice to say I appreciate I am probably one of the lucky few that actually managed to bag one of these...

Voted cold, because I don't like Richer Sounds sales tactics. Sorry if that offends anyone. At least I gave a reason.
#8
None near me either. Pity as it's a good deal.

People always complain that people complain -but I complain (or moan!) because these units are simply not "available" in any reasonable sense of the word.

Richer Sounds and similar stores are just trying to make money (nothing wrong with that) of course but this tactic of selling stuff we can't reasonably obtain is very wearing. Or at least it is on me. And if it were done by DSG they'd be in hot water (and have been for selling stuff they don't/can't or never could supply).

Richer Sounds should really get their act together and stop it. But I assume people will still post these tatty offers that are far from hot UK deals. It's lazy.

Its used and on display at my local still good price though

No offense at all but puzzled. :?

I found that RS do not push you to purchase anything in the shops. They even have a sign saying that. Is your experience any difference?

+1 for me to
I have bought lots of stuff through them, and call before I go and they let me know if in stock.

The warranty they provide is cheap and they honour it.

I think they have great customer service

web says Chelsea have one. Called and they said it's a mistake on the system. They sell it for 99.95.

That's not their tactic.

I've always found it to be as demonstrated here; heavily publicise a deal only reasonably available to a handful of people across the country to entice members of the bargain hunting public in. They then prey on their disappointment and suggest a 'close alternative' which is readily available. However, the alternative they suggest is rarely anything like the promised phantom kit they went in for in the first place and instead usually a poor piece of hardware of which they have hundreds to shift.

I've many times helped friends take back items they have been sold 'instead' and had ridiculously misleading discussions with sales staff trying not to take said items back, who in vain deny some of the most basic facts about Hifi and Home Cinema but with such adamance that they could easily convince people less fluent in basic technical details.

To be fair, of course this will not be everyone's experience of RS and obviously this is only one side of them; there is the side that caters for people who do know what they are talking about and what they want with good prices and without being pushy in their sales tactics. Their warranties are very good (if you value such things) and their staff are knowledgeable when they're not being coerced into pushing boxes.

Right so just because it's RS you don't like the deal?? wtf I don't like it when I see a great deal to find out it's at Home Bargains or whatever they're called and there's none near me but that doesn't make a deal cold.

I bet if they'd had one near you you'd have been singing a different tune.

Some people ffs....

I'm one of the lucky six towns on that list :D

That sounds like total b*ll*x to me. Surely they have to honour the web price, I would challenge that if I were you.

What do you mean by heavily publicise? On their website, when you first see this model it says "LAST FEW" in the image. If you click on it to see the product, again it says LAST FEW. Then in text, LAST FEW TO CLEAR. LIMITED STOCKS/NOT AVAILABLE IN ALL STORES. SOME MAY BE EX-DISPLAY OR EX-REPAIR. It's their caps, not mine.

I think it is fairly clear that there are not many left. As to heavily publicising it, it is on their website, since they have some available. It is clear that the stocks are limited. They do not post it here, someone else does.

I'm not a fan of Richer either, but they do have some good deals Sometimes !

Me thinks in 6 Months time all the manufacturers will be trying to flog us blue ray players
for well under £70 ,and probably in a years time For £40 quid.

Watch this space and wait for the price drops!!!!!
