Lots of reasons...price being one

Simplicity another, style another, remote another...shall I go on?

Not voting either way, but I'm surprised that prices haven't came down much faster. I was hoping that we'd be looking at sub £50 players by now, but looks like it's some way off.

I bought a BDP-4600 a couple of months back and can recommend it to anyone. It fits onto the wall and looks really and can connect to the internet via your router and also stream movies from a laptop or NAS through to your TV while upscaling it.

More expensive though. I paid £260 ish for it.

Yes, i'm waiting for them to come down in price as well. I should imagine that many more people are as well.
I dont think that Blu Ray discs will really take off until these players become more reasonably priced.

Not 100% but could you plug it in via the optical out on the rear of the unit?

Another reason people want to get standalone rather than PS3 is they don't play games.

Agreed that blu ray will not hit off unless these players comes down in price.
I'm not willing to venture in until these players are price about £70.
