UPDATED - Get a Samsung C300 with £10 airtime for £9.74 with Quidco. Usual price is £19.74 for a c300 on Virgin Mobile with £10 top-up, however Quidco for PAYG phones @ Phones4U is £10 so £19.74 - £10 = £9.74!! Bargain!.

Not quite as good a deal as it was a few days ago (was £7.95) but still a bargain.

Silly question I know but is it locked, or can I just use this as a replacement phone on my T-mobile tarrif?
#2
I don't know for sure, but I bought one of these a few weeks ago and it seems to be sim free packaging but with a virgin sticker on it so i'm guessing it might work

it will be locked mate, all my recent purchases from them have been locked. i think you can use a virgin sim on a tmobile locked phone but not the other way round.

Thanks, I'll not risk it, it was for my Step- daughter. Why is it that teenagers seem to go through mobiles like they go on trees?

Very misleading heading.
Would have been better to put the £22.95 in there. :-(

At £22.95 if the quidco doesn't come through it's not such a good deal is it?

At £32.95 if the quidco doesn't come through it's not such a good deal is it?

£32.95?

The phone is £12.95 + you must buy a 10 quid top up.
WORST case it is £22.95
Best case £7.95 for a phone with £10 credit on it. (assuming you get the Quidco)

Do oyu know if the Credit comes in the form of a scratch card or is it already loaded on the new sim supplied with phone.
Wife needs new phone and wants to keep number without going through the hassle of getting it changed.
#12
the credit is loaded onto the sim card, not a voucher.

Thanks for that

Ordered 1 as a replacement for OH's phone yesterday, she's not too fussy about keeping existing number so

No tracking on P4U site which is quiet strange and Quidco has tracked but at 0.00 which is not unusual for Quidco, hopefully change to 15.00 soon:thumbsup:

Cheers OP, Heated and Repped:thumbsup:

Maybe you could let us know if quidco tracks? Wouldn't buy unless it does, even for a spare phone for work.

if it's locked, then you can unlock it for £2.99 from here:

A lot of Samsungs can be unlocked by inserting the SIM while the battery is at an angle after switching the phone on and then entering a series of reset codes. This technique may work on this model. Can anyone confirm?
#18
I'll give it a try and see what happens, £15 cash back and unlocking it will hopefully work.
#19
Bargain :)

If you want this phone on orange you can get it from argos or woolies for £15 with no topup needed.

You know that for £2.99 it just gives you a list of unlocking options, not actually unlocks the phone for you.

I also thought that if quidco was used, it wasn't supposed to be included in the price (unless it was clearly stated).

Can you expand on this - would paying the 2.99 and entering the resulting code into a samsung c300 actually unlock the phone?

out of stock on Virgin

hi i have onebrand new with plastic still intact on screen complete with charger & maunal on virgin in black with new sim £1 credit on it £15 with free p&p if any one intrested
#25
Do you get the Phones 4 U guy as well!!

Good deal. You could argue this deal pays you £2.05 as well, as if the Quidco comes through (log a ticket if it don't track - clear your cookies 1st!!) and with the £10 credit, for a £22.95 payment - you get back £25!!

I might do this - recycle phone through one of the many companies that offer this and make a bit more!
#26
This is misleading and requires quidco that doesnt always track.
#27
Phones4U's quidco is not very reliable now. It tracked zeor and paid (!!!!) me zero for a contract phone with them.
for exmaple:

25 Sep 2008 17:45:13 Phones4U 0.00 0.00 received ~ Nov 2008

sorry price misleading wont bother this time

Think you got this wrong - phone is £12.95 + £10 for airtime, therefore there is no profit. Phone costs £7.95 if Quidco tracks!!

No, its a scam. I paid the £2.99 + VAT, entered my IMEI number which is what is required to generate a code, but all I received back was a list of things I could do,1) Go to a local market stall, etc etc, all which I already knew.
Emailed them saying the website was misleading, and WHY did they need my IMEI number just top give the info I already knew, got an email back saying it would be refunded but no sign of it yet. Time to get back in touch methinks.

Avoid - :x

He means if you include the £10 credit as if it was cash or you were going to top up £10 anyway.

Here's a copy of the "unlocking instructions" e-mail that they send you for £2.99:
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/270618/samsung-b130-payg-mobile-phone-blac/showpost.php?p=3386062&postcount=25

As you can see, it's not worth a penny.

I'm amazed that you got codes for £2.99.....unless they were for an old Nokia (whose codes can easily be calculated using freely available calculators)

I think this is probably what you did.

That's why i said on the first page that they don't actually unlock the phone for £2.99.....d'oh

that they don't actually unlock the phone for £2.99.....d'oh
"d'oh" ?? eh? Would you care to elaborate? ...and don't tell me you're quoting Homer Simpson

Yes, dandy I read what you said.
In post 23davedixson asked you to expand on what you said. You didn't reply so another user continued the explanation with his own experiences. I took it further with an example of the e-mail and the discussion continued.....
#38
I didn't want to quote any more as it might look messy.

The 50 posts over a page thing...why did you bother to tell me that?

And lastly, why have you said you read what I wrote? You seem to have given me a little run-through what you have done in this thread, I couldn't care less, and haven't interacted with you at any point of this thread.
I merely said to the user called 'mate' that these 2.99 unlocks are not unlocking codes...went to work, came home, and found that someone had bought one of these codes, I then expressed exasperation at the person who had bought a £2.99 code with...wait for it...a....
d'oh.
#39
dandy, this could go on forever and is somewhat off-topic.
#40
MIGHTYHUMUMGUS I have no idea whatsoever why you addressed me in the first place.

Yes this could go on forever, and yes, your original post to me was off-topic.
cheers.
