Good price but not from phones4u. Bought a phone from them last year online arrived with the box all crushed and was giving as a present. Customer services weren't bothered at all when i called to complain. AVOID buying online from them.

That's a pity, I had the opposite experience when I bought a Nokia C3 from them (great phone!) though admittedly instore. It developed a really bizarre fault, so I took it into store, expecting them to send it away for repair as Vodafone would and was glad I'd hung onto my old phone. No...they reset the software, and when that didn't work they gave me a new phone, problem solved, and as I didn't have the box etc with me they just opened one up, took out the phone, put the battery from mine in it and I had a new phone, no hassle and no return trip. Yes it's what you'd hope for, but sadly very few stores nowadays seem to make it that easy!

May have been due to the store though (Chichester), as I bought it from a different one and because their systems weren't working properly, the sale as an 'upgrade' (so I didn't have to buy £10 topup) was a pain, got sorted in the end though.

Re. the comparison between the 2 phones, the C3 also has Wifi and is a superb phone, really impressed by battery life. I wouldn't buy another Samsung due to signal issues with previous models which I and a number of friends have had...nothing to do with network, as my Nokia on same network would maintain full signal while Samsung would lose it suddenly, full signal to nothing, even when the two phones were sat side by side. Of course, this phone may be fine, but prior experience of a product plays a big part in whether I'd buy from them again! Having said that, the Samsung phone I had (G800 - ages ago) did feel as though it had superior build quality to many Nokias I've had, but in terms of reliability and user-friendliness it would be Nokia every time for me.

Is this phone better (features etc) than the Orange RIO?
#18
The Samsung (and the Nokia C3) have Wifi, which the Rio doesn't; the Orange Rio apparently has a touchscreen as well as the QWERTY keyboard, looks very nice, hadn't heard of it before! Apart from that, they look pretty comparable to me though I don't know much about the Samsung or the Rio in dayto-day use. Could you maybe have a look in one of the phone shops, have a play with both phones and see which suits you better? The Rio is MUCH cheaper, £30 from http://www.prepaymania.co.uk/mobilephone/rio-black-orange-payg.html?base !

Thanks - amethystl - WIFI might be a useful thing to have? I've not owned this type of phone before so not sure which one to go for hmm.

Stay away from the orange rio. Picked this up last week and there are so many faults with it. It looks nice and typing is a joy, but it all goes down hill with the software side of things, a nightmare to use. The Rio is cheap for a reason.

Bought one of these from phones 4 u in high street for 49.99 (came unlocked) and the usual tenner top up to replace my nokia C3. This phone is appalling compared to the C3. Keyboard is cheap and nasty screen dull and low res and worst of all the horrible delay between pressing a key and the letter appearing on screen (absolute deal breaker imo)

Sold on Ebay for 60 quid and went back to the C3 (amazing little phone)

AVOID!!!

Nokia C3 is on Wi Fi 2G = slow
faster one on 3G.
They come unlocked is great.

Huh? I believe 3G refers to the mobile signal, not Wifi? Can use either Wifi if there's a router or GPRS if you only have a phone signal, other phones e.g. my old Nokia 5800 can use 3G where available which is faster than GPRS. No mention of 3G on the Samsung or Rio either.

but yes, Phones 4 U phones do come unlocked, as my C3 did, can also avoid paying the £10 topup if you already have a sim card for that network (Pay as you Go only) as they take your number and treat it as an 'upgrade'

Picked one of these up for the Wife this evening in White, and TBH I am well impressed with it a great little phone, As stated in previous posts phone is unlocked, bought on Vodafone, using on O2 and tested on T-Mobile.

Phone is ideal for her needs plus a big bonus having Wi-Fi as she has just got into Facebook big time.

The free speakers are quite nice as well battery or USB powered.

Only downside is no 3G and it could of come with at least a slipcase but you can't have everything.

Thx OP

Does this phone come with an optical track pad or is it just a square button?
#28
Very smooth track ball hayley and the speed can be adjusted
#29
