Samsung CLP-315 Laser Colour Printer - £99.99 In Store (Smallest Colour Laser Printer)

cheap-informationcheap-information

Was after a new colour laser printer for the printing of the odd sheet, wanted something small so it didn't take up too much space.

Went into PC World and saw the CLP-315 which I had never heard of, only the CLP-300 which wasn't amazing. So I went back home typed it into Google and found out it was only released in the past few weeks. I checked the reviews and they were all gettting around 4 out of 5 stars which is very good, compared to the CLP-300 only getting 4 out of 10 in general.

It really is small and around the same size as an inkjet. All in a nice black case.

Best printer in the £100 region without a doubt. Online it is around £135 so a very good saving! I guess you can buy it online but with a delivery charge.

Not sure how long it will last so be quick!

Brilliant price for a great printer ... just a shame that a full set of replacement toners and imaging unit will cost you twice what you paid for the printer in the first place ....

Maybe the disposable laser printer has finally arrived, when the ink runs out you throw it away?

That's true for a lot of printers.

Doesn't quite work like that, this printer ships with "starter" toner cartridges like many printers. So you don't get as much out of your first set as you will from replacement full cartridges. Quite why manufacturers are allowed to do this I don't know, many people I've known have gone and bought a cheap printer for £30 and done a couple of hundred of pages printing with it, and then choked when finding out that cartridges/toner are £40 each even though they will perhaps do 3x as many pages and just ditched the printer and purchased another one with starter inks in it. This costs them more long term and costs everyone in environmental terms.

Of course, if you can refill the toners then this could be pretty bargaintastic.

But no doubt third part replacement toners will come out at around £20 a piece.

And why have you quote a replacement image toner unit in the price? You'd need to go through around 10 differents sets of toner before the time you need a new one of those. I'm not saying buy this if you are an intesive office user but for home printing where you may print 10 things off a week it is perfect.

Yes, it's crazy that so much is wasted in producing and then disposing of throw-away machinery. Have some rep for the comment!

Recently, I've bought slightly more up-market printers that came with full toner and promise longer life and lower running costs, but they have been no more reliable than cheapo models - less so, in fact. Perhaps manufacturers should be penalised for producing sub-standard goods that waste everyone's time/money/resources by failing prematurely. Market forces don't really work because there's always a new model before poor reliability feeds back to affect sales. End of rant (for now).
