new toners for this are £35+ per colour and are only 1000 pages, 1500 for black

would probably work out cheaper to get each page hand-drawn by Tibetan monks than keep paying for toner

Can you suggest an alternative colour laser printer with better toner capacity?

The non-wireless version of this printer (CLP-315) was tested by PC Review magazine (i think that was the one) and found to be the cheapest colour laser printer on test in the short, medium AND longer term!
I own the CLP-315 and have to say it is a fantastic printer for the price (i paid £99 from Amazon as wireless wasn't necessary for me).
So, this is a great printer, but not a massive deal, its only £6 cheaper than Amazon...

it's not toner capacity you need to look for really, although my Oki was 3000 pages, it's cost of refill/renewing toner
I have the 310 version of this and just bought a chip for it, on ebay, to allow me to refill the toner, has to be soldered onto the circuit board though so not an simple hack
