Just ordered one. Nice price. They had them in Asda (Cwmbran) a few days ago and they were more but can't remember how much more. Samsung WERE giving them away free when you bought a Samsung tele about 6 months ago .. just bought a new Sammy 32B550 so should go with that nicely :-)

Good post .. thanks MikeT :-)

Hi, these look great. Does anyone know if they are region locked ? Is there a Hack ?
Also I have an Old TV at the mo (no HDMI) If I attach a SCART adaptor via the component will it look s**t or is it as good as a scart connection.
Thanks

I got mine for £70 6m ago, already sent one back to Amazon

it is very temprimetal and needs to be on a hard solid flat surface. it won't work on carpet.

its also temperamental when you first try and get it to play each time you use it. it turns on ok and the disc drive opens but it can take 5 minutes messing around trying to get it to play. also very tempramental with the HDMI and the TV link up. can take a while to get it to link. I've got a 48" samsung plasma so would have thought it would have been seemless transmitting data

Ordered 2, one for me and one as a Christmas present for my brother.
Excellent deal - just hope Dell have enough stock as have a feeling this will get HOT! :)
Heated and repped.

oh and the upscale does considerably improve the picture quality compared to a standard DVD player. Its not as good as blueray obviously but its a good alternative until the prices of them become cheap

The shapes pretty funky tooo

Cracking player, paid £55 6mths ago, not a problem with it
#21
If it ships with the updated firmware, then your stuck with region 2 as none of the current region hacks work. You could get lucky and have the earlier firmware.

Depends how good you TV's internal upscaling is. If it's crap, this will be a good improvement. If good, won't make any difference.
#28
From what I have read it seems to be hardware region locked. I was just wondering if anyone else had more luck.

perfect! Thanks!

I agree, this seems to be a popular misconception and a bit of a marketing gimmick. My Denon 2900 looks great on my TV and projector via component.

Its plays all regions

I know this as I bought a couple of region 1 DVD's (not noticing they weren't region 2) and watched them but when I traded them in at CEX they wouldn't take them. I'd not noticed they were region 1 when I bought them
