Do you have a product code?
#2
Product code = DVDSH875M
#3
Most likely a one off for that store only :(-

Stay away, even at this price. Awful machine, you have to put it in standby to do scheduled recordings. The GUI and remote are stupidly complicated. The GUI often just freezes of it's own accord and the EPG barely works.

Nice find heat rep added
#7
how many were left in store?
#8
very cheap but a lot of these have bad reviwes

For 40 quid i wouldnt care if it had half star reviews
#10
I have one of these and agree that the GUI is a pig. I got it for £80 a while ago.

What audio formats will this play? Can I rip cds to this and then play back from HDD?

There are loads of HDD video recorders about for not much money but not many (decent) audio ones. Unless you want to spend £4k on a NAIM one thats not much more than this on paper.
#12
this was the last one, i didn't know anything about it but saw it had a 250gb hdd, so I thought why not, if it doesn't get decent reviews, then at least it will do what its designed to do. I'm happy

great buy at this price hot hot hot

Currys pay you £39.97 to take it off their hands.

Samsung make loads of good stuff but can not make dvd recorders. I had the older SH855M for a month before getting my money back. An absolute dog of a machine. They haven't hardly changed since the horrible SH855M. You still have to put it in standby to record - Video recorders did that in the 80's.

Read av-forums....There are lists of bugs and faults, like they didn't even try...Stay well clear.

Half a star - what about a quarter?

good deal at this price ! hot from me.

sashicee > try and boot in "safe mode with networking"
download the free version of malwarebytes Anti-Malware here : http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

update definitions, do a 'quick scan' and reboot in normal mode.
do a 'full scan' and reboot.

everything will be back to normal.

Even if this is the case, it's still a 250GB HDD Recorder for less than £40!

What a mad thing to say?! So if it was reviewed to be useless, never worked unless you stood on your head, but what the heck it's only £40?! You must be crazy, you'd be better off folding 4x £10 notes in to the shape of little money people to join you in your world :whistling::-D

It has mixed reviews, at the end of the day it's a dvd recorder/player/hard drive that does exactly what it's supposed to.

Just went into another Currys store near me at opening time to see what had, and had another one of these, then like a flash someone came through the door and bought it, but it didn't have a remote so they had to buy an all4one remote!. Someone from here perhaps?

At the end of the day yes it has bad reviews but it is a dvd recorder and has a hdd what more can you want for 4 x £10 little money people. It does the job even if ain't perfect and if it were a cheap brand I dont think this deal would be hot.

Nowhere to be seen, even searching with the product code.

Why do you think it's £40? I had the SH855M - it is annoying slow/buggy/poor features to use. It's just not a pleasant experience. You are supposed to enjoy using av gear.

Samsung have not even tried - like Labour in Norwich recently.

Picked up a Samsung DVD-SR275M in PC World (Manchester) for £19.97!

No HDD, but multi format DVD recording and HDMI/1080p upscaling for £20...

Seems OK so far, UI not as good as the Panasonic we have but cosmetically it matches the Samsung TV and Blu-Ray perfectly:-D

I've seen a scattering of comments this morning saying PCW are doing some cut price recorders... Can you tell me if there was a decent range or even amount of stock knocking about? Preferably with HardDrive but by no means essential!

Ta very much:thumbsup:

They had a Philips, a Logik and the Samsung that I bought (all non-HDD DVD recorders) and a Goodmans with HDD but no price on it (didn't ask as wasn't interested). All were located in the clearance section in the middle of the store (the one at the end of the Mancunian Way). That was Thursday evening so no idea what they might have now:thinking:
