The DVD-SR270M DVD Recorder from Samsung is a stylish and highly functional addition to any home entertainment system.

An in-built DVB-T digital tuner gives you access to over 25 Freeview channels, as well as the ability to receive HDTV quality digital television which can be recorded onto a DVD or downloaded to a Hard Disk Drive.

Samsungs EZ REC Mode is a handy feature which enables the SR270M DVD Recorder to automatically search the HDD for available space as soon as you press the record button. Watching your recordings is also incredibly easy simply press the play button and sit back and enjoy.

The images produced by the DVD-SR270M are outstandingly clear and bright, thanks to Samsungs Progressive Scan Output which scans individual picture lines in sequence rather than alternately and brings a new sense of realism to your viewing experience.

Take the hassle out of recording your favourite programmes and enjoy improved picture and sound quality with the sleek and stylish DVD-SR270M DVD Recorder from Samsung.

Why does the write up say it searches the HDD to find space - I thought it was just a DVD recorder? If it has a HDD as well then it's a real hot bargain!!

Receives & records HDTV?

With these inputs?

Component (Y/Pb/Pr)
1xScart
Composite (L/R)

I'm no expert but I can't see how it can receive HDTV. Can someone correct me please?

Right, I just emailed them and await their reply. I think they've mixed up the descriptions from 3 different products. This unit doesn't receive HDTV but rather IDTV, and does not have a HDD. That said, it's cheaper than a load of other places, including eBay & Amazon

i bought one of these(SR270)but returned it as there was no HDMI connection...apparently it gets confused with the SR275 which does.

Just bought one - it seems to have freeview and a DV input according to the website - good for recording from old videos :-)

:)
don't think there is a HDD but the samsung text (even on their site) says there is - I doubt it at this price.

You're not confusing it with the SR270M (with HDMI) are you? That's not where the link in the OP takes you, nor is it the £59.99 price.

I'm looking for a DVD player with a USB slot, so I can attach an external HDD with movies on it - wanting to play both DVDs and also "backups" from an external HDD ... is there a DVD player that does this?

Lots of machines will play from an external HDD or pen drive, but you generally have to format the drive as FAT32 and the video files need to be in a compressed format such as DivX. Philips DVP3960/3980/5960/5980 have been popular and cheap, but there are others.

Is this not the same ? If the M means a completely different model, then yes it's not the same :-(
All the blurb in cdiscount says 'M' so assumed it was for that - rubbish if it isn't and will take a quick photo of the page before it dissappears, to prove. I don't mind really if it is not the M as long as it still has the DV input as I only want to copy my old DV-tapes to DVD.

This is a poor DVD recorder. I purchased one of these before Xmas and it was overly complicated and prone to freezing. The EPG is very slow to respond and to record a scheduled recording you have to switch the unit into standby (no dual tuner) The unit is well built and recordings are good quality however if you are patient enough to setup a recording. It is cheap for a reason! Stay away!

A bit too soon for me to agree, as I haven't placed any orders with them yet. Based on this little experience, though, I'm highly unlikely to in the near future

They replied...

Dear Steve,

Thank you for your email. The DVD player does not have an internal memory, all recording is done on to DVD or an external Hard Drive, which can then be played using the recorder.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Kind regards
