Dont suppose this has a twin tuner? (good price anyway, heat added)

No, I've got one and it's just got a single tuner.
Not bad for an upscaling player. However, DVD via HDMI alone is such a huge improvement over scart/composite. The irony being, that an HDMI DVD player is probably just as expensive as an upscaler.

Anyone know how this one compares to the Toshiba offerings? It seems that after Tosh lost the HDDVD battle, they switched to upscaling rather quickly.
I've got this:

In the post.

Would this be any good with this TV - and how does it handle divx / jpg...

All I currently have is one of those super budget ASDA pacific players - as it plays divx.

Not overly bothered about the recording side of things as I have a freeview stick and Windows Media Center on the PC.
Just ordered one. It will match my new Samsung T.V. and seems a good price.

Just bought one. Thanks to the OP!
Looks like a good deal. Anyone know if this would work with an LCD TV imported from the US? (It does 720p / 1080i - it's an older Sharp Aquos.)

I currently have my LCD TV hooked up to the Mac Mini, and using an elgato EyeTV to receive Freeview. But it's a fiddle to deal with. I'd love to have something that comes with a real remote...
not too sure about this, was considering it but the previous post back in jan suggested it wasnt too good a purchase.
Thanks. have been looking for one. Dont forget quidco.
Hot. Quidco too..
Great offer. Amazon have also just dropped their price.

Gets mixed reports, but I guess atthat price who can complain!

can i use this to record from sky box?
Although it oes not say on the website, i did call up nd was told it has a scart av input. Although you should confirm, I would assume so.
I just downloaded the manual. It would appear that you can record from the scart socket. Also, it has a input socket for connecting a digital camcorder.
can i use this to record from sky box?

Yeah, as long as it's not anything with a digital licence - the recorder won't allow it.
This is a poor DVD recorder. I purchased one of these before Xmas and it was overly complicated and prone to freezing. The EPG is very slow to respond and to record a scheduled recording you have to switch the unit into standby (no dual tuner) The unit is well built and recordings are good quality however if you are patient enough to setup a recording.

It is cheap for a reason! Stay away!
if a samsung product packs up the only people who can fix it is a samsung rep. samsung dont give out service info. They are more expencive and id have to travel 70 miles to my nearest one.

My dads got this problem with on he bought just over a year ago. v poor service
This has now dropped even further in price to £54.99
