I would just say that Samsung, for some reason, never seem to hit the divx function on the head. They play but the quality, from what Ive witnessed, is never up to the standards of other brands

Must agree a Samsung divx capable player I had was abysmal, changed for a Philips which is superb.

this is an awfully priced deal!

Cold for me,

nobody wants VHS anymore, and you can find a better player with divx supported format for less than this..

You'd be surprised. You only have to look on ebay to see how many people still buy VHS tapes. Remember, not all films are actually available on DVD.

Can you give me the details of the philips one as I am after a reasonably priced divx player.

Oh and I still love VHS, with it's ability to fast forward at any point of the tape and its 0.5 seconds warning to record something, the fact that I have never watched a vhs film jump back to the start 30 mins into the film. what's not to love??!?!

The Philips I have is a DVP5960, can usually pick them up in the £30 - 40 price bracket

According to the manual: click here

"- DO NOT play CD-ROM, CD-I and DVD-ROM in this player! (CDGs play audio only, not graphics).
- It may not play CD-R,CD-RW and DVD-R, -RW, DVD+R, +RW in all cases due to the type of disc
or condition of the recording.
- The recorded disc may not run as playback depends on the recording speed.
- Do not run the player with two discs loaded at the same time."

so its tryna say it might not play copied dvds!!!! WTF
