Anyone know how long the code is valid for? Been thinking of getting a new washing machine, current one is 18 years old. I'd like to check it out in the flesh and ensure it is the correct size before buying.

Thanks

I have a friend who owns a small independent electrical shop and he told me a couple of months ago that this is a great model to buy right now. it was around £500 so i'd say this was a hot deal. A bit too dear for me atm, but I may purchase when it comes down a bit more.

i had a Samsung Washer that lasted 3years !!!!!! right outside of the warranty, i got a fault code for a heater problem, so we used a cold wash and then we got another one to say the pump was gone, and another to say the load was to heavy with about 3 towels in it....

Engineer said throw it away and just buy a new one, there rubbish !!

So i went out and ended up buying this one, LOL. Just purely on the 5 year parts and labour warranty
and tbh i only see them improving there washers, not making them worse..

Fingers crossed for this new Eco bubble one,so far has been a quiet and quick washer.

and this is cheaper than i paid ,so hot from me

so you had 3 Samsung washing machines and all had faults .... then you bought another?
#23
Three separate error codes on the same washing machine I presumed.
#24
I've got a Ecobubble Samsung washer (not this model) that was bought a few months back. Can't comment on reliabilty but it's easy to use and cleans clothes well. They also look quite nice and play a lovely jingle when the cycle is finished.

My Hotpoint WD51 has been going for about 15 years. And it's been through 4 house moves, one to germany and back to UK. But online reviews hate the model. I'm thinking of replacing it because the main bearing is shot now. I could buy a new bearing for £5 but I'm thinking it's about time something major went wrong and should be completely replaced.
The point is, it's a gamble. You might get one that lasts forever or one that fails 1day over warranty. A few people knocking the model on HUKD does not mean its a bad or good one! If you believe they make the fail outside warranty then buy an extended warranty.

I've just bought a 9kg beko one for £290 which is fab from appliances online

i also have a washing machine that is around 15 years old, a zanussi, i have changed the motor brushes once. if i were you, i would be inclined to change your bearing, and maybe get another 15 years out of it.
things aren't made to last anymore. Now, most things you cant even take the back of, and see what is wrong with it, as there will be some unrepairable circuit board.
#28
We have a simular Samsung washing machine and its great when its working but so far i've had Samsung out 4 timed in 3 yrs with main circuit board faults.
#29
Is this 5yr guarantee 5 years for both parts & labour. I got caught out with a fridge before, turned out it was only in parts & labour was only for the 1st year.

It has rounded corners and buttons that don't stay pushed in when you press them. Copy cats.

Had a 1992 Zanussi last 16 years washing for 2. It was only the pump that went, now in the garage as a backup.

I recently purchased the Samsung WD0804W8E Washer/Dryer. It's quiet, the cold "Eco bubble" wash actually works, 15 minute quick wash is great for sports clothes, tea towels (unsoiled stuff) etc and there's a wash mode for my hiking waterproof shells etc!

An neat extra feature of the dryer is the the Refresh modes - stick a smoke / musty smelling suit jacket / trousers in and out it comes smell free. There's also a Refresh mode for allergy sufferers - most items that need the dry cleaner can go in!
............
I had a Zanussi washer/dryer before and at high spin speeds it would damage the collar tips of my shirts - no issues at all with the Samsung.

I've got my delivery scheduled for next Monday. Currys website says they recycle old machines, can they just take my old one away, or do I need to book that service?

You'd be better asking them that rather than us ;)
#38
Ah, found this on their website under Recycling. Looks like they will take the old one away:

RECYCLING

If you have any piece of electrical equipment you want to recycle, you can either:

Bring your old product into any of our Currys/PC World/Currys.digital stores or Megastores

or

We can collect and recycle your old TV (when you buy a TV of 40” or above) or large domestic appliance for free when you have your new product delivered.
