Why do you say that? Using standard cell types gives the added flexibility of always being able to use rechargeable nimh or l-ion cells with the backup of readily available pre-charged alkaline cells. IMHO standard cell usage is a plus point for the vast majority of people rather than a negative one.

If you are just after a cheap digital camera, I went for this deal the other day:

SAMSUNG S760 7MP DIGITAL CAMERA £29.97 + £5.95 P&P (Refurbished) Tesco eBay Outlet

Lower specs, but a great price.

There is this deal as well, which looks pretty good:

SAMSUNG ES20 10MP CAMERA* £32.98 Includes express delivery @ ARGOS EBAY

Heat given for this deal in any case.

how long does a set of batteries last though? From previous experience my old camera ate them! So will personally not get a camera with aa batteries again. Need one for my mum though - so if they do last a while I might be interested!

Those Energizers are expensive - how about these http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_3&products_id=107341, which retain charge while sitting in a drawer.

Certainly only use rechargeables in a camera, and they last long enough.

£13 for 8 energizers is pretty good in my books. I definitely prefer them to own-brands.

2 of those 2450s outlast my other camera's lithium battery about 4 times over, no sweat.

I can't find reviews of this camera anywhere, anyone know if it might also be known under a different model number or something...?

I thought it was £13 for 4, my mistake.
