Great camera. Great Price.
#6
Gone for one - see if it is better than my sony w70 - if not anyone want it :)
#7
Gone for one too. Thanks OP, H&R added

I have spent all morning reading the reviews for this model - looks like a great little camera for the money. 12.2 mega pixels and the rechargeable lithium battery sealed the deal for me.

Many thanks OP - I have ordered the black one (same price) as some reviews for the red one say it looks more pink than red :-)

Wouldn't have another samsung, just got rid of my st500, loads of noise on photos & quite poor quality
#10
Does anyone know if this come packaged as new? I'm thinking of giving it as a present and wouldn't want a damaged box or missing instructions.
#11
It is a great price, but I am a bit sceptical. It only launched in April, why do they sell tons of refurbs now? The few reviews I could find are very basic, with a consistent number of people complaining about poor image quality. If you don't have high expectations, that may be fine, but I would want my pictures to be as good as possible (plus I may be a bit spoiled by the Panasonic Lumix series...).

Either because:
1. Faulty Batch (recalled or returned en masse)
2. Its complicated to operate, so morons returned it / didnt realise it didnt use AA's
3. The bane of everybody - easy returns to Argos / Littlewoods... (The number of people who buy 3 or 4 of an item, and return all but one REALLY gets my goat!)
4. It could be cr*p ;)

don't see black one listed

When I bought my black one earlier - there were only 2 others available so I guess they're gone now

Thought cameras were one of the things you couldn't take back to argos
#17
Dose this camera has an anti shake feature be better for the hands?!
#18
Can't go wrong for £50, means I don't need to worry about any breaking.

Tbh, Samsung are a good make so their camera's can't be that bad.
#19
its 77 quid brand new at argos? is refurb that good cos 25 quid is a great saving but if its only 77 in the first place then its a budget camera no?

Samsung are an average make, (jack of all trade master of none) and make poor cameras.

It does, but it is an electronic anti-shake, not an optical one. So it may not be terribly effective...

I know, I just bought a Samsung netbook, and it is great. But they did make some mediocre phones, and I am not sure how much they understand about cameras...

i've got one, for the money it takes really decent quality pics.

here's a snap i took of my dimly lit desk. all on auto, no flash.
here's one with flash, again just a quick snap on auto.
not a lot of noise, and colour balance is really quite good.
honestly, for 50 quid, what more do you want?

That picture only has 1.3 MP - it is scaled down 9 pixels to 1. And still the chroma noise is clearly visible. I for one am not impressed with that.

That is the wrong question. First you have to know what you want, and then you can figure out whether spending 50 quid gets you there or not. For me the answer seems to be no.

Well I'd rather get a samsung at this price than an unknown make or a make i've never heard of.
