Would imagine it's the standard 3 years Samsung offer with these drives.

But only free shipping for OcUK forum members with 250 posts, otherwise postage was £7.25 on top. Makes this deal look even better.

That's not an F4, and it's a slower drive. 7200rpm doesn't necessarily mean faster performance,

What would people recommend for a 1Tb drive please?

My priority is something quiet, and obviously reliable. Outright speed isn't a big deal.
#14
Do Amazon use bubble wrap for hardware purchases? I've never ordered hardware from Amazon before and I know how they love their cardboard :(

The Samsung F3 1TB drive is a cracker ;)

Cardboard and sponges surrounding the original plastic packaging of the HDD. Perfectly fine.

Wish I waited a few more days as I'd have got it £3+ cheaper!
#17
Very good price! I've got four of these sitting on a shelf behind me waiting for Netgear to release the flippin 'ReadyNAS Ultra 4 Plus' here in the UK.

Paid Scan £299.47 for four of these around three months ago, so beginning to wish I'd waited as I would've save meself nearly £55. :( Damn you Netgear!

Unless Samsungs policy has changed - only retail hard-drives have 3 years. OEM drives only have 1 year.

ice.

Amazon has some issues with Bi-Polar. Prices are always going up and down! Very annoying after ordering something to see it has got cheaper by a few ££s
#26
Damn it! While transferring money into the account I use online they put the price up.

Surely a classic example of 'Bait and Switch', selling practice by Amazon? Especially since they are still selling it, its not out of stock.

Not bait and switch - supply and demand. If there are suddenly a horde of people descending to buy this item, then it makes sense to raise the price while demand is high. Simple market forces, nothing sinister.

How is it bait and switch, They are selling it at the advertised price on there website.
#33
Glad they put the price back up before I bought this, I contacted them and they said it only comes with a 1 year warranty, most other retailers sell it with a 3 year warranty.

Amazon could be wrong too...

Best to check with samsung direct.

Warranty does tend to vary with different retailers: Got my 2 F4s (the ones going for £58.74 yesterday) from OcUK delivered today, immediately checked the serials via Samsung's site, they have full 3 year warranty with Samsung direct; Ordered an F3 a couple of weeks ago from Scan, they are not supported by Samsung at all, you have to go through the retailer (Scan still say they will support RMAs for 3 years, though); Another drive I got via the unmentionable Manchester-based place a year ago turned out to only have 1 year, again only via themselves, so be very careful with their 'super special' deals.

In the case of this one from Amazon I'd be inclined to believe them about the 1 year only, or at least get official clarification as you don't want to be up the proverbial creek without paddle if it fails after a year.

For those who have purchased one of these, don't forget to apply the firmware update specified on the previous page, looks like you could be asking for trouble if you don't, and that's a lot of data to lose!
#37
When I put my F4's serial no. in that I got from Amazon it says the warranty expires 2013-12. So it's a 3 year cover.
#38
There we go.. its not all doom and gloom with samsung lol
#39
Received this a couple days ago, popped it into my Iomega external drive case, ran with no problems at all. Super quiet, brilliant! Thanks!
#40
