I've been researching phones recently. I thought I'd read somewhere that the camera on these is really poor.

I have this phone and agree with the texting, I have to first change it from predicitive as it reverts each time, and you have to change between alpha and numerical rather than just pushing the button a 4th time which is really annoying....although the camera and video are great and it looks nice too :)

I know I am talking about my experience with 'e2save' but they are very poor if there is a problem with the phone and they are all reconditioned. I had 3 replacements in as many months. Even when I sent it back i sent it with the memory card that came with it and never got it back. Be warned!!!!!

tocco ultra, although new and therefore hard to get on a deal has a slide out keypad and better camera (8mp)

A mate of mine had one for all of a month if that, he gave it to me to sell on feebay for him because he didn't like it at all. Now although I love my gadgets I must say I didn't like it either, the camera is terrible and the whole operating system is painfully slow. Personally barky, I'd have gone with the Nokia 5800 out of the 2, much better phone, very nice camera, fast OS and lots of applications out there for it too.

word of advise: stay away from Clearance products, especially from e2save. the product will be missing lots of accessories and if you want to send it back, they will not refund the money for pre pay top up even if you have not touched it. also, customer service is very bad. i just returned my 5800 today which was on clearance. i had a lot of trouble getting them to accept my return. so be very careful and think twice.

I wouldn't touch Samsung my son had one, it stopped working after 11months, they wouldn't replace it - had a rigmarole ringing and emailing and writing letters that weren't responded to. I'd give them a wide berth based on that. Even to the extent of when buying an LCD TV I chose Sony rather than Samsung because I knew Samsung's support was so poor.

Funny though that e2save is a carphone warehouse company, youd think they would be good.

You don't have to change from alpha to numerical..... Just hold down the number you want on the alpha keypad and the number comes up. As for reverting to predicitive, you can change this in the settings.... I have one and it never goes back to predictive. Crap texting capabilities though. Changing as soon as my contract runs out..

i have this phone let me assure you it looks nice but the camera is soooo poooor and texting is annoyingly hard...especially if you have sausage fingers!

I had the upgrade to this, the Omnia. It was a great phone, let down by a touch screen that pales in comparison to how well the iPhone works sadly. A friend of mine has the Tocco and despises the touch screen and lack of response, while another friend is fine with it.

I personally found it awful, so I sold the Omnia after using the unlock code that someone posted earlier - worth doing!

Anyone got this? Is the texting ok on it?

Can it connect to wi-fi like the iPhone?

it's on offer at o2 at present, think £20 a month for 24 months (!) for 100 mins and unlimited texts.

What does it mean by clearance? Like returns of something?

Anuvver vote for saying this phones camera is garbage.
Don't like the slideshow as it shows the filename over the pic if it overlaps (nomally does).
Wanted to play just one album on it in album sequence and had to make a playlist as messing around to start with sequenced A-Bs or 1 to whatever did not work.
DL the soft from Samsung and it (Media manager i think it was) freezes on my XP machine and stays on the screen like a blot even when takmangers killed it and went to forums for a remedy seeing loads of other people complaining about its soft (PC studio type thing).

If i was in the market I'd go for the iphone.

I wouldn't go for a phone just because it is unlocked. You can't compare the Tocco with a 5800. The 5800 is a smartphone and has way more features than the Tocco.

you can get cheaper on fleabay

For those who can wait the following is apparently 'coming soon': free tocco lite on £8.50/ month contract. Also they advertise a £15 month 12 month contract with free phone here on virgin:

Got one of these the other day. Not awful but doesn't connect to wifi so internet is expensive, and no qwerty keyboard. I think there's better products out there personally.
