The smart Samsung Galaxy Apollo makes it easy to stay in touch with your favourite contacts on Facebook ™, Twitter ™, email and instant messenger.

This touchscreen phone supports the Android operating system, and comes with tons of pre-installed apps to brighten your day, including Google Maps ™ and Layar™, the augmented reality browser that shows you detailed information about your surroundings and helps you to find local services. There are over 70,000 apps to discover online, at Android Market ™.

Galaxy Apollo features the Samsung Social Hub, a place to find all of your calendar events, contacts, calls and messages. Social Hub sends all of your social network updates, instant messages and emails straight to your smartphone, and the Swype message editor lets you quickly respond to friends by sweeping your finger across the virtual QWERTY keyboard.

With full Google support, Samsung Galaxy Apollo has many of the same programmes that you use everyday on your netbook, laptop or computer, such as Google Search for finding websites, and Gtalk ™ instant messenger. That's only part of what makes Galaxy Apollo so easy to use - the intuitive touch interface is designed to look and feel familiar, especially if you've been a fan of previous touchscreen Samsung phones, like the brilliant Tocco Lite. Make sure to protect your new phone's display with a durable screen protector, which will keep it free from scuffs, scratches and dust.

You can use the Galaxy Apollo to go online, either via 3G or Wi-Fi, and browse your favourite websites, watch online videos or even play online games, as there's full support for flash videos and java content. The pre-installed YouTube ™ app lets you quickly access all the latest clips, and watch them on the bright, crisp WVGA display.

Galaxy Apollo is like a miniture cinema in your pocket, thanks to its powerful video player and beautiful display. The video player supports DivX and Xvid movie files, as well as Real and WMV movie files, so you can transfer your favourite films to a microSD card and watch them on your mobile.

Catching a flick with a friend? There's no need to crowd round your smartphone - thanks to Samsung's DLNA technology you can wirelessly connect your phone to a compatible TV or laptop and stream videos between them! Your phone even doubles as a remote control for your DLNA-enabled TV!

A stylish phone with powerful features, the Samsung Galaxy Apollo is easy to set up, fun to customise and great to play with. It will keep you connected to your favourite contacts, social networks and more. Make sure to protect your new phone with a durable mobile case, which will keep it safe from damage while it's in your purse, bag or pocket.

Shall I be the first to say the Orange San Francisco is probably better (screen resolution and app availability) plus it's only £10 more at Tesco with the £10 off direct voucher.

Orange San Francisco can be unlocked and debranded easily free of charge. Only down side is an orange logo painted on the phone.

my girlfriend bought one of these on orange from car phone warehouse and its not a bad phone , but it was not unlocked so be careful , my knowledge of unlocking phones is nil but the guy in my local unlocking shop said hed had loads of people come in with them (the week the offer started) and was turning people away because they are a pain in the **** to unlock

Decent phone. Been this price for over a month now at CPW (already posted 5 weeks or so ago). Mine came unlocked . Not bad spec but unfortunately not as good as the 'you know what' which can be bought for same price.

Think there will an official Android 2.2 update for the phone soon. You can actually do it yourself just now, if you know what you are doing.

I guess the distinction is if it comes out in a black/orange styled Orange box with loads of Orange bumf like Orange Wednesdays stickers - it is LOCKED. If it comes in a Samsung original box and you are handed the sim in a separate pack - it is UNlocked.

Unusual for CPW to dish out locked stock though, one of the main reasons to shop there is their stock usually is not locked.

i know it was very strange it was from the smaller branch in leeds city centre for anyone interested that is in that neck of the woods , the box was not branded in anyway by orange

Maybe Orange has made it a condition of them being sold that they are locked. I believe it's as easy to lock a phone as it is to unlock. (i.e. secret number you need to know).

I can't see how it is still legal to lock customers into a service provider. I know there are phone unlock shops everywhere, but should be against the law to lock a mobile phone IMO. (Should also be against the law to brand a phone too like Orange and Vodafone do IMO).

thinking about it is very strange all the features on the phone worked through wifi with different sims but it would only send and accept calls and texts with the orange sim , now it is unlocked it some times has the orange boot up screen and sometimes tmobile which is the sim thats in it now

Are these any better than the disappointing HTC Wildfire?
#14
no need to buy top-ups if u r on payg for some time and upgrade it at cpw. just ask them to check your eligibility.hot

Got one of these last week. Nice little phone for a good price. Decent spec as well, wifi, gps etc and top quality noise reduction headphones. Case is a little plastic and no flash on camera, but for the money you cannot go wrong. Brought mine on orange but use on Vodafone so can confirm comes unlocked, I will give the sim to my lad so it won't go to waste.. Don't forget quidco

Whats the best deal for the SF at the mo?

I'd say Tesco with £10 off code and cashback quidco etc (only white one available at moment). Other than that if you are with Orange, apparently you can phone them and they offer it cheap.
#18
Why does it say WVGA? The specs I found say 400x240, and that is WQVGA - 1/4 of the resolution of for example the SF. And although the camera sounds much better here, I really like the great display of the SF - that and Google Chrome make it a great internet phone.
#19
Can someone point me to the £10 off the Tesco San Fran. please?
Thanks.

I love it when people say 'it does everything it says on the tin', especially when the 'tin' doesnt claim it does much.

It's CPW's policy, hardly the fault of the staff. I do agree it is staffed by idiots though hehe.

Indeed. No such problems with the SF for me.

Ok then, it does everything it should do, as indeed does the san fran.

does that get rid of the orange branding?

thanks in advance
#35
I got a SF and my missus a sammy, both great phones although the SF has a better screen the Sammy is far better built the SF.

So although the SF is slightly better phone technically it's a bit flimsy and cheap looking, if that matters get the Sammy .. both great phones.

this phone is very cheap feeling indeed

These phones will not have any Orange branding, they are sim free versions, you just have to buy a £10 orange credit to get the thing

Expired now £74.95 + £15 top up.
