This was listed a couple of weeks back and now appears back in stock. Sorry if already posted. I got one the last time and it was unlocked and also official upgrade to Android 2.2 Froyo from Samsung Kies. Hope it helps someone.

Ordered. thanks.

Cheers OP - ordered, TCB'd and hot from me! Free delivery too. Nice.

Although I found the O2 website a nightmare to negotiate going through TCB. My first time though.

Some are locked and some are unlocked. Pot luck really. The one I got was locked BUT later ones have been delivered unlocked though.

Unlock codes can be bought for £10 on eBay.

Cashback through both Quidco and TCB has been tracking at £10 instead of the advertised £3.85.

Without a doubt the best budget phone deal around below the price of the San Fran.

Before any asks the answer is YES you can use a Giff Gaff (or Tesco) sim in this. Even if it's locked.

Thank you for sharing this deal, Foolishspender! :)

Yup. mine was locked. Don't assume you will get an unlocked phone if buying one of these.

40 quid

decent enough spec for that price, unlocked or not

is top-up extra or included, or don't you need one ?

There's a free unlock method for this phone (as also mentioned earlier) but the instructions have to be followed very carefully:

Is anyone having problems with the website? I placed an order but haven't received a confirmation email and trying to get into the order just produces a message of

"My O2 section of the o2.co.uk site is not accessible

We're sorry, an application error has occurred. Please try again later."

Agree with the lottery regarding locked or unlocked. I followed the thread on the previous posting and bought this phone on assumption that the newer stock was unlocked. That theory appeared to be correct when I received mine. Thanks for your postings on the previous thread.

thanks for the post i did purchase two, but of these are unlocked....it appears newer stock is unlocked

I bought 2 of these on Thursday last week off this site . My wifes works great but mine has a camera fault and has had to be sent away for repair through o2. A great phone though so i'm sure i have just been unlucky. They said they couldn't replace it because it was no longer on their computer system for sale but 4 days later they seem to have found some stock from somewhere .

Has anyone had problems with this tracking on quidco? I know it usually takes some time for the cashback to appear but should the transaction not appear on the activity page?
#19
do u need to buy a top up?

Bought one for my son last week. Once order was taken the only notification I got was a text from the delivery people 24 hrs before it arrived. V nice phone and abargain at this price. Recommended. Have some heat.

Edit. Btw updating to 2.2 was a doddle. Just go to the samsung website.

Apparently this phone has been discontinued hence the cheap price. The stock they are selling at the moment for £39.99 (I'm pretty sure) is coming from contract stock. Hence the reason they are coming unlocked. The locked ones that people were getting a few weeks ago were normal PAYG stock.

This is the third time the £39.99 deal has come on in the last couple of weeks.

No top up is required which makes it even more of a bargain.

I had to do my order three times, each time clearing my cookies for TCB just in case. I don't know whether it was me or the O2 website - probably me - but it just kept going wrong, I managed it eventually though.

You tried this? On 2.2?? This works on 2.3.3 Gingerbread only I'm reading...

I was half way putting in the ridiculous amount of details they required for the purchase.....then the website kicked me out, and then said they are very busy and I have to wait for other customers to finish?

Lame website.

can this be bought for the same price instore

O2 is a downright awful network and their website has been consistently terrible since 2004 when it started telling me I had more minutes and texts than I actually did.

The only reason I'd buy an O2 phone is to unlock it and use it on another proper network - just like this one.

Great find on the deal by the way, voted hot. In case it wasn't obvious from my rant, I can't order the phone either...
#38
I have owned this phone on Vodafone network for past 3 months, and I would rate it better than the HTC Wildfire. 600MHz processor with inbuilt GPS receiver. Downside is the wifi is lazy at picking up the network. Apart from that its quite a stylish little phone, not bulky big, but just spot on.

Agreed. Terrible customer service with no confirmation by e-mail of purchase. The first communication from them was a customer satisfaction survey for my purchase. In my case the end justified the means!!

Apparently the camera is god awful, can anyone confirm?
