Its not £40 cheaper, thats the exchange rate on xe.com, if you use a bank card check your fees, conversions etc could see the £40 cut to as little as £15

Surely the 16GB is treated like an external SD and is not overwritten/formatted on reset/flashing? Never seen a phone where you would lose that data.

16GB is more than enough.
And when you flash a new ROM you dont lose all your data on the memory, its kept in a separate partition.
