I was tempted when it was posted at £349.99 but I picked one up in store and was a bit worried about how much the chassis flexed - you could bend it quite noticeably with very little effort.

Not sure what you picked up but I bought one recently from the Samsung deal and it's very solid, no flex at all, unless you force it maybe

Cheapest you can probably buy it but I would argue the 'fantastic tablet' part in the OP.

I bought one from Samsung a few weeks ago which I ended up returning for a refund and I would say its far from fantastic.

The note taking part of the tablet is very good but simple tasks like surfing the net and using apps don't run anywhere near as well as they should on this spec of tablet.

I found performance to be laggy with stutters even on some of the most basic of websites and swiping between screens had the usual Touchwiz hiccups.

The only people I could recommend one to are those who do a lot of writing / note taking everyday and want to substitute paper for a tablet. The pen is very good but is the only standout feature of the tablet IMO.

You may have persuaded me to leave it. I just wish they did an update to the Note 8 which is better for daily use for note taking

I'm sure there were a few others who posted similar experiences to myself in the thread for the deal at Samsung for £350 a few weeks ago.

It is disappointing and future support doesn't look good for the tablet either. It's currently on 4.4.2 and there wasn't any word of Lollipop in the future.

The massive price drop after less than a year on the market suggests Samsung are just wanting to shift whatever stock they have and forget about the 12.2 range.

I could be wrong but that was the feeling I was getting across various sites.

Definitely try extensively before you buy.

they do that with all their devices which is a shame. Either take too long to bring an update out or leave it completely.

All of the samsung devices suffer from terrible lag - I believe this is down to the chip (Exynos), and terrible software optimisation. One thing that may cause this is the multiwindow support - this may cause double/triple or more buffering. My galaxy note 2 is great; my tab S is a poor performer. One of these days I will dig deeper to see what it is.

And yes, samsung drop prices - because they are all so overpriced to begin with. Hopefully they are learning their lesson.

[I have had mine for several weeks and no problems at all. Very fast and great to use. There are some apps out there that can kill tablets and make the slow. I found MS Outlook to be one such, app I have used it on a few devices not just Samsung and it becomes them slow and hang. [/i][/i]

Hot deal...I have been looking at the tablet market for quite some time and wanted a tablet that the kids can use and learn to write and draw etc etc. The 10inch tablets was abit small for what I wanted. The note pro 12.2 ticked all boxes. 3gb of Ram, quad cpu`s, the pen to write, good sized screen, Bluetooth, does the basics i.e. letter, excel, etc and the list goes on. There is one thing to bare in mind, there is a lots of talk of people reporting their devices slow on android with the latest version. I have avoided this as it seems when ever there is a new update from Android via Samsung or Sony and so on there are bugs in the update and then they realised a fix. I have not updated mine for just that reason. On par, to all those folks who say their note pro 12.2 is slow and it hangs etc I think they have put lots of apps on their which kill the system and then done a load of updates. For those folks stick to Apple devices, its made for the simple folk.

After been messed around by Samsung on delivery (Previous HotDeal), I cancelled hopping for a better deal.

Well the better deal came along (Thanks for posting joshim90).

Went down to the local PC World and it looked like I got the second from last one.

Currently I'm doing major update(s) (Oh Joy)

One thing to note, following some previous research this device is going to get lollipop early next year.

I have had one of these for a while now and really like the added screen size although appreciate that it's not for everyone. I don't seem to experience lag problems and the office suite provided is excellent. The only issue is that with the added size comes a little extra weight and it doesn't fit in all hotel safes! I would definitely recommend one though.

Make calls from it?

"HELLO! NO I'M IN RUSSIA!"

It's a great price, but I'd give the tablet a miss. I own the 10.1" version and it does suffer from major lag and since I bought it 13 months ago it hasn't had 1 proper update [it's still on 4.2.2] other than small bug fixes (which then introduced more bugs...).

It has a lovely clear screen, but unless note taking and art are your primary need, I'd go for the TabS 10.5" with AMOLED screen. It looks better and doesn't stutter on basic tasks.

Picked one up earlier after reserving and making a mad dash to the Trafford Centre, cancelled my delayed Samsung order and the Mrs will be happy tomorrow. Saw one with an 'oops' sticker in John Lewis yesterday and they still wanted 500 for it.

Good god, this is one of the worst posts I have ever seen on this forum.

There you have it folks, the reason that Samsung devices lag isn't poor optimisation, Touchwiz hogging resources, etc. its all you simple people installing apps on your devices.

I have recently bought this tablet and I find no lag or stuttering, the heavy android skin is ok and throwing 3GB of ram in has made it quick and smooth. The office/productivity is top drawer and Amazon Instant looks great. Also people saying it creeks or is poorly built must be mad,it's very well put together and feels like it's gonna last well.As for updates,I read the lollipop update for pro/note tabs is definitely happening and will arrive January or February.

Download the Priority app, search for Curry's and you should have 3 offers available. £10 off £100+, £30 off £300 and £50 of £500+. Not sure if the offer has expired yet, but when I redeemed mine, the app said I had ~4 days to redeem it. They can only be used once per account. I'm on TPO, not o2, but o2 dish out free PAYG sims, so just put another o2 sim in and clear the Priority app cache+data...open the app and there you have it - another Priority code to redeem. Occasionally some stores allow you to stack Priority codes, not very often, but for my £0.00 spend on o2 sims, it's a bargain!

biggest advantage and problem at the same time of this tablet is its size. It's huge and I love it, but it's sometimes hard to find some space to put it down :p

Ha ha, I'm like this everytime. I'm surprised how long I've kept my ipad 3, but keep buying other random gadgets instead.
Hundreds of games on Steam and after over a year saying "I don't need any of those", finally ended up getting a PS4 a week ago, ha!

You should be on 4.4 by now. Have you checked for updates or even better have the auto update set on?
I suppose the only other thing that would delay the update is of its not a UK model, as Samsung seem to update by country.

I too have the 10.1 2014 and is a nice bit of kit, but is a bit laggy. I'm tempted by this just to experience 4 windows. Yes I'm sad :D
