If bought through an external phone offer site you can get this on the following plan:

£15
300 Mins
300 Texts
Unlimited Web

However:

Phone is Free
£40 Cashback

If you can cope with under 300 texts a month then you can save the £36 phone cost and also gain £40 cashback ... So an extra £76 in your pocket.

Just another option.

since when 24 months offers are great???????????

Also, Samsung have just brought out their own new operating system called Bada.
This phone uses Android and it has been all but confirmed that they will not be developing this phone any further which means no updates. There are already a great number of apps that will not run on this phone(or any other android 1.5 device) and it will only get worse.

Just something to think about if you want to be buying stuff, but Android is a great OS.

which "external" site?
#5
Let us know what you think of the phone mate, looks good and I was thinking of getting the missus one.

Hmmmm Google Android or Samsung Bada.... :whistling:

I'm not a betting man but if I was then i'd bet money that Bada would be about as sucessful as the Sinclair C5 especially in comparison to Android.

A phone OS is only as good as the app store it runs with... Samsung will never be able to compete in that respect with Android.
#7
This looks a good deal. just consider if i could last 24 months, I guess theres nothing stopping me changing the phone.
#8
samsung have confirmed there will be updating to eclair 2.1 it be q2 of this year .

theres loads of links quoting the update and if you google samsung galaxy spica android 2.1 it comes up with loads

http://androidcommunity.com/samsung-galaxy-i5700-spica-to-get-2-1-in-q2-20100204/

the last samsung fone i had was i8910 and they brought out updates for that often ,cant see this any diffrent .

it has the full android market place on the phone too .

ive had no problems with phone as of yet .

and as of voting cold cos its 24 months contract i cant see a problem with that cos at end of the day your gona have contract with some one come 12 or 24 makes no diffrence ,in 24 months il be ready for the next android phone .

as for the os bada would you realy want an os thats only made and used by one company ,i wouldnt

it says here its not till next year anyway so that dont realy help people wanting or needing a phone now .

Agreed. Nokia can't keep up either and they're /huge/ compared with other manufacturers

Definately, the Ovi store sucks ass. :-D

As for voting cold. The £15 p/m for 24 months your looking at £360 total cost +£33 for phone cost or -£40, so potentially only £320, and there's also £25 quidco to count in on the external phone site, not sure if I'm allowed to link it?

So you could be looking at a total cost of £295 which is a similar cost for the phone sim free from play.com etc ...

You'r basically taking the phone on finance and throwing in 300 mins + 300 texts and unlimited internet, if using external source.

Oh and as above, updates for both 2.0 and 2.1 are due this year.

im glad theres others out there that think this is good deal ,not sure about the ext site ive never used them ,and some times bit put off sites like that cos been coned before sdaying free this free that ,and ends up it more hassle than the freebie is worth .

had it once thru phones4 u promising cash back ,but was so much hassle to get it sorted didnt bother in the end.

heres the samsung spica/portal website if anyone after more info

I suppose I'll post the link and if Mods dont like it, they can remove it.

Phone is found here:

http://www.buymobilephones.net/mobile-phones/Samsung/Samsung-i5700-Galaxy/T-Mobile/T-Mobile-15-%2824mths%29/2858911

Defaults to Unlimited Texts, but you can change the booster further down.

Then go through Quidco or TopCashBack for another £25.

Bought several through buymobilephones.net and they are top notch and the cashback is useually hassle free.

The advantage above it's auto cash back, so no forgetting forms or sending vouchers. Should get paid directly to your account after 90 days ... Simples!

nice find ,ithink i did see that aswell ,

however it dont say if the net is free and looks like its a booster where with t mobile ,in the shop anyway

she gave me unlimted net and landline booster in the deals so i got 300 mins and 300 txt plus 2 booster for £15

if this deals works out only 1 booster then id rather miss the £40 i never had and get 2 boosters instead .

but credit to you on the find .

just went to checkout and with 2 boosters its £20 a month.....
#16
Youhave to pay £36 for the phone through T-Mob as well dont forget.

yeah ,just thinking long term tho

you would save more in the end with say unlimited land line calls and internet booster .

it work out more than £40 on land line calls alone over the months .
#18
??

You get 300 mins ... That covers both X-Network and Landline?

not sure about other users ,but my dad uses 3000 mins a month and my m8 uses 900

another m8 uses 3000 txts a month

so 300 min or 300 txt may not suit all and you can change the boosters every 30 days if you wish

but with t mobile you can mix and match them so you dont have to go with the boosters i went for

Blimey ... I currently have a contract with O2 @ £40 p/m with 600 Mins Unlimited Texts and Unlimited Web and I struggle to get over 200 Mins and over 150 texts. And I only really use my mob for calls and texts, not landline (Even considered scrapping my landline but need it for net lol).

However I only really want this for the phone, the contract wont be used, or my mate will probably have it for £10 a month and I'll cover the £5. Just bored of me Xperia X1 =D ...
#21
ive talked the wife in getting one too ,as she only just told me that she spends on the bt land line 50p a min to her mum in bulgaria which on some months has been £30 on its own .

if she gets that deal with 300 min & 300 txt plus the eu booster we save money .

calls to bulgaria on t mobile is 13p a min and they give you 60 mins free

so we will be saving there aswell

Need some help with this, i'v had mine for a few days now and it is GREAT! GmAIL account with all my contacts synced in about 2mins. including my google finance portfolio!
Only one problem though, it seems there is either a software issue or issue with the battery. The on screen battery bar at the top of the screen shows it as approx 70% full, however third party battery apps all show 30% battery remaining. I beleive the 3rd party apps are correct as the phone phone will power down shortly after.
the battery lasts 1-1.5 days but i am concerned about this discrepancy.....
Any Info from fellow Android users MUCH appreciated! ;)
#25
ive found this to be the case on my samsung i5700 it must be a software issue ,but im not bothered too much im getting about same length of use 1 to 1.5 days and thats web ,wifi gps use ,also cos i had the i8910 it uses same battery i now have total of 4 samsung batterys and have a desktop charger aswell .

its sweet combo and will give me days of battery life

Cool tried this method ... i'm not sure why but activating my hotmail account via wifi didnt work, had to use 3g. Very weird as my gmail account would only setup via wifi...... just a heads up if anyone suffers from similar issues.

is this better than the htc hero

is this better than the htc hero

never used the htc hero , i did look at that when i was in the t mobile shop but was more money per month.

the htc has a 528mhz cpu where the samsung has 800mhz cpu
also its the only android phone other than the lg intouch to play divx/xvid video files ,and i wouldnt get the lg its not as good as mine as my wife has it ,but it suits her for wot she needs .

the htc has more ram at 288mb and the samsung has 200mb but i havnt seen any problem with this ,im not sure if the samsung uses any of my micro sd installed ,it comes with a 1gb card but ive put a 16gb card .

my view is the trackball on the htc is something that moves and if it moves it can break or wear out .

the samsung has a dpad instead .

i hope this info helps
#35
altho maybe the press release was wrong about how much ram is on the samsung

cos on the o2 site it says 250mb

i think it comes down to price ,isit contract or pay as you go.

dont forget that the htc is older than the samsung .

i realy like my samsung ,i nearly went for the hero but glad i didnt as samsung has confirmed android 2.1 will be updated and still no new about the htc hero to have 2.1 .

i think correct me if im wrong that the htc is still on 1.6 and had been for ages .

Hero is due to have 2.1 as well but wont run some of the animation like the changing wallpapers and some others as it's spec cant cope.

The samsung has a better processor @ 800Mhx and more memory (the one used by the OS) @ 600 IIRC where the hero is @ 500.

It's a good spec, the 1.5 build is a bit laggy on this though, but hopefully 2.1 will have optimisations.

i dont suffer any lag on the fone only when i type its about a letter behind but not major problem

maybe they will sort that out in the future , like most fones out there when they 1st come out there not perfect .

but as far as lag while using it and in menus its fast .

Has anyone else had issues with the battery bar. It seems that this phone updates the battery info every 10% until it goes done to 20% then its in 5% decreasments.

BTW: the 2.1 ROM has just been leaked. see phoneareana dot com
