Thought I would share this one after I did all the research on prices.

After having scoured the internet (and high street) I could not seem to find the Samsung Galaxy Pro cheaper than £149.99 + £10 top-up. It costs another £15 if you want Three to unlock the phone (for use on another network).

Cheapest on ebay is £164 (but that's used) and Sim Free the phone is about £230 to £250. So therefore, it's cheaper to get it from Three (and then unlock it).

An ideal phone if you wanna make the switch from Blackberry (or similar) to Android but dont want to loose your QWERTY keyboard

For me this phone is spot-on as it's the best of both worlds (QWERTY keyboard and a touchscreen OS).

If you find it cheaper, please let me know!

Apart from Android 2.2 and not looking like a toy (both big positives), what does this offer over the ultra-cheap Motorola Flipout?

Both have QWERTY, but I presume this has the same downsides as the Flipout re. poor app support for low-res landscape screens.

Not voting cold, just curious as to what I would be getting for the extra £90.

Better CPU, build quality, camera and higher res/quality screen for a start.

I considered the Flipout (whilst I had the HTC Desire Z), along with the BB torch and other form-factors that had a QWERTY keyboard. Problem I found when I tried out the Flipout (besides the low resolution making it cringe-worthy) was that it was just so annoying having to flipout the keyboard everytime you wanted to reply to a text (and I hate touchscreen keyboards). I remember getting about six texts in a row (from a mate) but they were about a minute or so apart (not instant). So I would put the phone away, thinking thats the end, only for another text to pop up and so the phone wasnt suitable.

As a predominent text/emailer I have found BB style QWERTY keyboard phones work the best for me. I am happy with my E5 but I need a better OS (and the touchscreen option). :)

I assume your interested/pondering buying it... if so, hope the above helps. 8)

Hmm... doesn't this have the same resolution as the Flipout though? Reviews seem to single this out as the main issue with that phone, with many apps not supporting either the low res, or refusing to function in landscape mode. I was hoping this wouldn't have the same issues.

Good points about the camera and CPU (didn't consider that), and the whole keyboard in-out thing. Not sure if that would be an issue for me until I buy one... at which point it would be too late if it was an issue.

Thanks for the reply anyway. Will have to ponder this some more. I've tried plenty of phones over the past few months, and found that I need the functionality of Android but don't like the boring slabs of touchscreen which is pretty much all there is, except for oddities like this and the Flipout.

Avoid the Flipout... seriously (it was a major dissappointment :(). I know what you mean about the screen but As I use a Nokia E5 you can imagine I'm not too fussy that way.

In terms of something as powerful as the HTC Desire range you would be looking at the Motorola Droid Pro. But as it stands its not being released in the UK and would be around £300+ Sim Free/PAYG.

I suppose it depends how long you wanna wait. I dont mind switching every six months/one year as long as its a damn good phone. Furthermore as long as you keep it Android switching from one mobile to another shouldnt be an issue.

I've used both the Samsung and the Motorola side-by-side. Samsung still looks better (brighter, sharper, more vivid).

So if I am looking for a touch qwerty phone then this is right for me?!

Depends on multiple factors regarding your own preferences, such as do you want Android, do you play many games, use many apps, do you do a lot of texting or emailing?
