I think this has been posted before (over a month ago) but basically its a cheap way to get this phone.

It's available on o2 for £20 month for 18 months of which you can downgrade after 9 months.

It works out to:
9 months @ £20 = £180
9 months @ £15 = £135
Total = £315

On top of that you can get cashback via Quidco/Topcashback so potentially this could cost £280.

The tariff is 100 minutes & unlimited text, no data.

However this deal is about getting the phone cheaply & not about the tariff.

This deal is probably not suitable if you want to actually use the supplied sim with this phone unless you add a data bolt on.

The phone is probably unbranded & unlocked.

Gone for this ,quidco tracked at £40.So when the tech help & insurance are cancelled the final cost to me is £275 or £15.27 per month. The other half will give me £5 for the 02 sim which goes toward the giffgaff sim (proper unlimited data) hmm...appears I have followed my own advice.

htc desire or this? not sure what to get

Pros - wireless N, more on-board memory for storage & a bigger screen. Cons - slightly less RAM, lower battery life with bigger screen, no flash with camera,
possibly less attractive GUI.

very tempting

I'm very tempted to get this, and just buy the current Tesco mobile offer at the moment for a tenner a month.

Does the phone definitely come unlocked, so I could just stick the Tesco sim in once its arrived? The guy at dial-a-phone couldn't tell me if it would be or not.

Why's this not hotter??? This phone is easily as good as the iPhone 4 but you can get it for a fraction of the price here. Dialaphone tracks so it's only £275 after that. I got one last month when the deal was on and I have just got another one for my girlfriend.

It's easy to get a cheap sim only deal with Vodafone (with about £100 cashback with quidco) to do you for the sim.

Reviewed in Stuff and What Hifi this month and they say it's the only phone as good as the iPhone.

Must.....not......buy.......

Can confirm that the phone I received was unbranded & unlocked.
It was also not affected by recovery mode not working (some Galaxy S's are)
Also the paperwork for the contract did say that you can downgrade after 9 months.
#13
What do you get with the downgraded contract?

What do you get with the downgraded contract?

50 minutes unlimited texts for £15/month

But remember the point of this deal is for the phone not for the minutes/texts (that's just a bonus).

Ta - ordered this morning. My wife will go nuts.

Got mine today ,had little play while charging.Put an 8 gig card in & a t-mobile sim.The phone is unlocked & has 8gig with 5.75 showing internally.Leaving it to charge now ,but the temptation to have another look at that super amoled screen is tormenting me.

Does anyone know if cases with magnetic closures are harmful to the phone or the screen?

No Idea but the phone does have a built in digital compass so it may interfere with that.

Cool went for this deal.. Quidco tracked back at £40 so after i downgrade the contract from 20-15 after 9 months i got this phone in total for £280 or less :D
#20
i went for this deal also. i'm going to use my tesco sim with it on the £10 contract

Is that still the case? Are they locked?
#25
Mine was from o2, so i went on the android store without sim over a wifi, and then download a free unlocker of the store and it worked. Must be the best and easiest phone to unlock.
#26
Is downgrading at 9 months guaranteed? Dialaphone won't have qualms with doing that?

that's rather strange. admittedly i've got bad credit and was surprised that they even accepted me.
it doesn't state anywhere that a £100 deposit was required, i've never heard of that one before.
i would ring dial a phone back up and explain that you spoke to o2 direct and they've don't know anything about this and take it from there, it's only a £20 a month contract! but i'm sure someone with a bit more knowledge will be along to help you

I've got a deal from here in the past with my 5800... where's the option to downgrade in the paperwork, I wouldn't mind downgrading mine as i don't use my 500mins that I got with the contract!

Cheers :)
#29
better than the iphone imo, hot
#30
what about data allowance? it doesn't say anything about the cost :(
#31
Where's the details about the downgrade option- nothing on the website??

probably on the t&cs on the paperwork you get after the order is complete.

EDIT: actually, it's on the o2 website, applies to any length contract. nice info! rep added!

cos it does not have any!
#34
@ sunni downgrading is possible as it is mentioned in the terms and conditions you receive.

For the data allowance this deal is just to get the phone cheap not to actually use it with that package.

This phone does look good but having owned a Samsung Jet i'm wary of going for a Samsung touchscreen again.
Had it replaced twice in 14 months and now the touchscreen on the 3rd is very unresponsive and tempremental.
Think i'll go for the Desire, once the HD version comes out should be able to get it at a good price.
#36
could I get the basic tariff and phone up O2 and get data added? if so, how much would it be?

Iphone 4 all day long, Fank yu and gudnite
#38
Am I right in saying no data means no internet?

It's a pass for me if so unfortunately.
#39
Tempted, can I return my HTC Wildfire that I ordered the other day from Vodafone?
#40
Hot, but,

I’d wait for N8. Nokia can and will undercut competition as their phone is late and they need to regain high end market share. Expect at least 1/5th off competitors’ devices.

We are testing N8 right now against Galaxy, Desire, iPhone4 (and Sony’s/LG’s unmentionable crap) and so far even on pre-release firmware new OS is very good. Wait for reviews/price war.

Overall in my humble opinion N8 is a better package especially if you consider v4m, support and features.
