Best buy it this month then.

Does this mean they'll be offloaded on the cheap?

Patent infringement case lost to Apple. Banned from sale NOT from use.

nope. and they arent banned in europe just germany and the netherlands which does cause sammy a headache in that thats their main distribution hub.

Apple spitting it's dummy as Samsung dared to make stuff people actually wanted which didn't tie you to Apple's marketing machine for the life of the product.

According to BBC:

'The interim injunction prohibits sale of devices by three of the company's Dutch subsidiaries to the UK, France, Germany, Finland, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Sweden and Switzerland.'

Thanks - that's interesting - the S2 is banned as well.
Do you think similar deals will appear with S2s??

"If you don't have an iPhone...... You don't have facetime........!!!!!"
No.... the rest of us have video calls on our smartphones and tablets which enable us to talk face to face with any other non Apple product!
And guess what, we can bluetooth each other stuff and use our music library as ringtones as well........... and drag and drop files without using bloody iTunes!

we will see ;) after all the patent covers how to 'swipe' pages across the screen and sammy have already said that can be changed out...

Why is this being rated cold? If you're after a Galaxy S for cheap it's a decent price!
#14
No doubt because Samsung just joined that leper colony to stop Adobe getting lonely.

It seems an ok deal to me. I use my phone mostly on Wifi so 100mb would be fine I think. and the calls and texts seem reasonable. This Deal is no different really the the stupidly hot sanfransisco deals from earlier in the year and putting a giff gaff sim in it for £10 a month.

The phone is hardly ancient, it's still perfectly good for most people.

To put it another way: if your paying £10 a month and have a crap phone then why wouldn't you snap this up?

I've just bought this phone without seeing all of the above. I can't really afford 700 quid for an iPhone or S2 on contract - I thought 10 quid a month for a phone that was rated as Outstanding earlier in the year wasn't too bad.

http://www.mobile-phones-uk.org.uk/samsung-galaxy-s.htm

As commented above I'm going to use this mostly on WiFi and as a portable music play er - it's no iPhone 4/iPod Touch but I think it will be fine for me

I've bought one too for my G/F. JonoG, it's just as good as iphone 4. I have the Desire and before seeing this deal had no plans to get rid of it, had it 18 months now and it's still a cracking handset, the only problem with it is the built in memory of 500mb which is starting to run out. The Galaxy has (2gb so i've read) internal memory so I'm thinking of moving across to this. The 1gig processors are fine, I see no real need to get the new handsets if they are only a bit faster and offer HD/3D functions or bigger (often too big) screens.

People pay more for far more ancient iPhone 3.

Does anyone know if this is the "Galaxy S" (original) or the "Galaxy S Plus"

I'm presently paying Orange £10 month for Dolphin package (few hundred texts and 100mb) so this is a great deal for me as I get a new(er than my ancient Sony Ericsoon W810) phone for free!

Will let you know when we get our out of box.

Just curious, how many members have to chase quidco for phone deals like this one? It should have traced for £70. It hasn't so have to wait 4 days before raising claim.

Cheers

Update: we've opened box. Came with android 2.3.3 firmware; model no GT-i9000, has a shiny grey surround, not sure how to check its cpu clock. Wifi (indoors) only seems to pick up one dot - poor, but it might be our thomson (plusnet free) router, so might try changing channels. Otherwise happy with it so far.

Hi Charlie Brown
Mine arrived yesterday. Looks the same as yours - also not sure how to check cpu. My wifi is OK on our BT Homehub2 - about the same as my wife's Asus eeePc Netbook. The battery in mine is 1500 mAh, so I guess it's the original S not the "S plus" - can't complain though. Otherwise happy.
Mine hasn't tracked either and I ordered on Sunday. It's rather worrying that the Quidco info on Vodafone says purchases are "100% tracked within 6 hours".
My feeling is that something has gone wrong with this offer hence no tracking yet. Personally I'm going to give it a maximum of six days after purchase and then return it under the terms of Vodafone's 7 working days after delivery return policy.
Vodafone Returns
If it's left longer than that the £70 may be gone for good. Shame, as I am growing to like it...

Hi Clicker, we ended up raising a claim against vodofone. I don't see why it shouldn't come through since it's obvious we got the phone via quidco as it tracked that we went to the site but not the actual purchase - which can be verified (eventually) by vodofone. It's all good and fine saying they normally track by....... but more often than not we find ours takes much longer. :|

Having said that we purchased another phone for family member from tmobile yesterday and it tracked immediately. We're just hoping we can get a signal in our area otherwise it'll probably go back.

Re: why this deal isn't hotter, I guess unless you want the samsung galaxy on Vodofone for £242, then the tmobile offer for other smart phones i.e. SE arc or Motorola atrix is better for more mins/txts/internet/booster for £288.
