nice deal. I didn't buy this phone because it seems to have everything going for it EXcEPT a light for the camera and a plasticy feel to it ! Samsung seem to be trying the apple trick

Still a great phone otherwise

I just got one of these last week. I was going to get the Noia N8 but couldn't find one at the right price.
Someone offered me their SGS (as they went back to ther Iphone 3gs) for £120 so I took it.
The lack of camera light put me off at first but looking at my low light photo's from my old x10 and HTC legend, this turned out to be no great loss.

The killer app for me is the mobile AP, turning my phone into a 3g rooter without rooting, etc. Great for my Ipad wifi. X)

This phone got glowing reviews at £500 so at £300 it's a steal!

I agree with effingandjeffing - I have used one of these phones and I don't understand why Samsung left out flash and a premium casing. Such a pitty as those are the only niggles I have had.

Nexus S should be out soon. So I would imagine this hits a much lower price point over the next few weeks to justify a high price for the Nexus S.

...and samsung are a camera company

Idon't think they should go down the apple tack of leaving things off so your forced to buy the next improved model. Thats why htc are really winning new friends, do you remember those old xda's and mda's they had wifi and decent touch screens with good keyboards before any other mainstream phone manufacturers and no1 had heard of htc

....On the sam gal tab its got a poor 3m camera but with an led lamp

Its not all about the outside of the phone its whats in the inside that really counts i love my galaxy s and who gives a **** about the flash its a phone not a camera !

Why not get an iphone? It looks like one, it smells like one, it probably even tastes like one
#8
clearance already?

To the people worried about the phone being 'plastic' a simple solution is to add a case for the phone which most people would do anyway. The phone has a good weight and feel to it .Would definantly recommend.

#14
****! Only if I had 300 quid going spare before xmas! lol
Cracking price for that phone!
#15
Damn that really is a fantastic price. Might have to sell my iPhone 4 to grab it.
#16
I had bad experience with e2save
their clearance is rubbish. The batteries are mostly damages, and the phones are sent in broken white boxes

The iphone needs a bit more salt and tastes more like beef jerky whilst the galaxy s tastes like roast beef
Also cooking times vary as the iphone cooking instructions are in U.S measurements whilst I cant understnad the galaxy ones as they are in japanese ;)

How much better is this than the Orange San Francisco? I'm just wondering why this is 3 times more and an iPhone 4 which isn't meant to be as good as this is about £600
#19
Doesn't clearance mean they're returns or something, so not brand new? The o2 shop had them at this price not long ago, checked the other day though and noticed its jumped up to £350.

This will have a better camera. Is overall faster. Larger screen. MUCH better gaming capability. Larger internal memory.
Just off the top of my head.

Wow manufacturers releasing new phones every few minutes really does depreciate these quick doesn't it..

Maybe so you can actually use the thing outwith iTunes?
#22
Really want something faster than my Orange San Francisco; could hold out for a few month though.
#23
Had one of these since october, a very nice android phone which very recently just had the froyo update (although i much prefer 2.1 as this was much smoother)

Only bad point is that if you're going to be using this as a GPS you're better off with something else. And in terms of device support/bugs & fixes i dont think samsung will support it much.
#24
I only paid £10 more a few months ago from O2.

A great phone, couldn't go down the Apple route now, got too much freedom :)
#25
Who needs the light on the camera when if you are serious photographer you would have a dSLR (or 2! plus a back up compact with a Leica lens).

I almost never connect to Kies, you can even copy things across using it as a USB storage device. No itunes, MP3s 192kbps (CD quality) straight onto the SGS same with divx movies. Super AMOLED screen (my friend with a desire says it is way better) and I think it might just pip the retina display on the ip4

Also easy to unlock with a free app that will read the unlock code straight off the phone.
#26
watch a film on one of these, then watch it on an iPhone. This will blow the iPhone out of the water.

And yes, I travel a fair bit so I do watch a lot on it!

And the 3G router is a godsend. I've heard other Android owners say "well, there's an app that does that". And yes, there is, but it's an app and not built into the operating system with next to ZERO config (set the password, off you go!)

Best phone I ever had, superb screen, fast with excellent camera and sat nav. Flash not included? So what? There is also no thermometer, laser, projector, tyre pump, comb..... flash in mobiles is only good as a torch, is useless as a flash, if there is to dark and you need to use the flash that is mean there is to dark for built-in camera to take a shot even if there is flash in mobile. Only downside of this phone is plastic body but that's why it cost £300 not £500 as iPhone.

Maniek, if you want a better finish, get a replacement battery cover. There are hundreds on the market which make it feel better quality.
#29
GUYS, if I were you I would check if the GPS works. I've had it replaced 5 times due to GPS problem. The GPS on this phone is totally unusable.

Ordered one. Is there any orange logo or its clear ?
#36
No logo etc but to be avoided. They are incomplete, look used, no headphones, plain white box and in my case no warranty card. Much better to buy off ebay and get an as new one. Mine's going back.

Definately returns and whilst I was told they wouldn't be used, they are. Why they can't supply all the accessories and the original box I don't know. Looking again it says New Clearance on the site which is very dodgy.

Down to personal choice ... HTC Desire orignal had battery issues...HTC Desire HD has a bigger screen...hence, the drain is even more :)

I have had them all...and the SGS...for now...best phone on earth :)
