for some reason though galaxy nexus is brand new sim free at expansys £299 and for a brand new samsing galaxy s2 you lookin in region of over £400 , so never mind the specs . its the money that talks

Actually, the SGS2 has the better (Super AMOLED+) display: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMOLED#Super_AMOLED_Plus
The SGS2 also has a micro SD card slot which can take upto 64GB for about £44.
On the downside, firmware updates come through Samsung, rather than direct from Google.
I wouldn't say it's clear which handset is objectively 'better'.
